Statues' Gems Change Color During Nightmare Cycle?

Recommended Posts

There's one statue in the ruins, whose gem becomes red during one Nightmare Cycle and turns green during another. Also, I'm pretty sure once I saw it without any gems at all.

Is it a bug, or is it intended?

And the obvious suggestion mimicking award goes toooooooo....

He's ignoring your messages,he couldn't see the first one.

On-topic:This could be incredibly useful.If the gem really changes you can have as much green-yellow-orange gems as you want(beofre you run out of statues),instead of getting a red one(with the consecuent "Ohshoot" moment

Did you mine them and see if they really changed?

Huh.... did you smash it to see if it really was a different gem? It might of just been a slight pigment change.

I mined it, and it turned out to be a green gem.

the nightmare cycle changes the tint of the entire area, it is the same gem, just tinted.

Mass production of thulecite ahead!

Huehuehuehuehue!(Now,seriously,this is great!)

Then we come back to the first question:Is this intended or not?Should we summon Bryce so he answers?

Great!

don't be so exited, it could have been a green gem in the first place, what he should have done is saved the game before breaking it, and then alt-4 out of the game, and try again when it looked different.

Well, I did save the game before breaking the statue and tried again. The freaking gem was orange this time!aD0zKAd.jpg?1

Now I think I'll make the thulecite crown in my actual world just because it's fancy.

i can confirm it, the statue_ruins.lua file has a "swap_gem" thing in it, and it is linked to the nightmare cycle.

This is marvelous news! @SVGK so this is only with the new update right?

i don't know, i can't switch between them willy-nilly, i have to pretty much download the game from scratch each time, but the update is later today, or if it's delayed, tomorrow, so not much time to wait either way.

here is the thing:

if GetNightmareClock() then

        inst:ListenForEvent( "phasechange",

                                function(source,data)

                                    --dprint("PHASECHANGE:",data.newphase)

                                    ShowState(inst,data)

                                end,

                                GetWorld() )

    end

    inst:DoTaskInTime(1*FRAMES, function()

                            ShowState(inst)

                            end)

    --fade_in(inst,0)

    return inst

end

local function gem(small)

    local inst = commonfn(small)

    local gem = GetRandomItem(gemlist)

    inst.gemmed = gem

    if small then

        inst.AnimState:OverrideSymbol("swap_gem", "statue_ruins_small_gem", gem)

    else

        inst.AnimState:OverrideSymbol("swap_gem", "statue_ruins_gem", gem)

    end

    inst.components.lootdropper:SetLoot({"thulecite", gem})

    inst.components.lootdropper:AddChanceLoot("thulecite"  , 0.05)

    return inst

end

local function nogem(small)

    local inst = commonfn(small)

there you have it, the nightmare phase change triggered, color changing gems.
