Hello, dear Klei representatives!

I’m reaching out on behalf of your game’s community. We love and actively play DST, we create dedicated servers and showcase the best the game has to offer in its original form. We are committed to fostering a friendly, respectful atmosphere within the game and our community. Unfortunately, however, we have been encountering unpleasant situations more and more frequently as of late.

One of the most common problems is the “abuse” of client-side mods. In an attempt to get everything all at once, players use cheat-mods.

What does this lead to?

1.     It encourages other players to follow this wrong example.

2.     It disrupts the game's balance. It breaks unique content.

3.     It has a negative impact on competition between players.

4.     It makes the environment extremely hostile.

How have we tried to solve this?

We created a whitelist of permissible mods. Unfortunately, this solution is not foolproof. Players bypass these restrictions and share the bypass methods with others. I will not describe the bypass method publicly, but I can describe it in a private conversation with Klei representatives.

We ask you to consider the possibility of controls. To introduce tools that would allow us to combat such situations. For example: To integrate a mod whitelist into the game's own options. When creating a server/dedicated server, the administrator could add a list of permissible mods. Failure to comply would result in being unable to join the server/being kicked from the server 2 minutes after joining + a warning about the mod restrictions. An additional entry when browsing servers: "Restrictions on client-side mods in place."

There are useful mods that do not disrupt the game's balance. Our options are – a minimap or a menu redesign. We do not want users to be completely deprived of the ability to use client-side mods. Therefore, the solutions must be flexible.

With hope for your feedback and consideration of this proposal!
