With the release of whatever the heck you want to call WX78’s newly released overpowered broken skill tree… I decided to go back and give some of the older characters a second look under the microscope so to speak..

I will keep this as short of a TL:DR as I possibly can so- Buff the Elden Spear for slightly longer dashing distance, allow it to cross over small water canals, In Addition (if it’s charged with Lightning..) maybe allow the player to use it at night time too? (blinking around using brief flashes of light to avoid dying in darkness without a torch)

Lastly on Xbox (I’m unsure of other platforms) you can not go into “blocked” status and also still move, we should be able to make very slow movements (like carrying a heavy statue) but in return, be able to change the direction of the block mid-block (like the game Moonlighter) Because having to come to a complete stop equip the sheild press B to go into Block Stance and A to confirm Block or B to cancel Block, is just a really weird design choice…

Like why can I just not press B to Block while the shield is Equipped and skip the extra step of pressing B rotate my analog stick in the direction I want to block and then Press A to block?

Wouldn’t it have been simpler just press B with the shield equipped and block in the direction your walking towards?

These I feel (after this crazy WX78 skill tree) are not Unreasonable buff requests for her. 🥺♥️

to be fair most of the early skill trees are now behind and will need buffs after all the others are finished, as the later skill trees are so strong by comparison. Wolfgang and Wilson are obviously left way behind the rest by now.

It really is a never ending cycle of character updates

I wish Klei would only revisit the old skill trees after creating skill trees for characters who never had them. So in 4 years or more, developers should review Wilson first and then the others.

Worse than having a bad skill tree is simply not having one at all.

And it's worth remembering that Klei worked on two updates for Wigfrid's skill tree.

Recently I've done a Boss Run as Wigfrid and It just bothered me how little I felt like her skilltree affected my gameplay. I think the only perk that was usefull during entire run was the ability to fix commander helmets and Elding Spear becoming viable option only after starting Moon Storms.
Year of the Knight and luck mechanic did made gathering horns for spears much less tedious, so I am glad this did manage to buff the pre-rift Spears.

But what I am getting at, I've considered Wigfrid to be the best character in the game before Skilltree's. So her lackluster abilities didn't much bother me when theyve released. But now that I played with them... yeah I wish we'd gotten a perk that would decrease Inspiration loss, or quicken the singing animation. I've hardly used third song because I knew before I'd have a chance to benefit from it - my inspiration would dwindle. Also, using these songs made me open myself to attacks.

The Elden Spear when used as a dash charge actually does light up with a lightning flash, but.. for some reason it can not be used when your outside of “light” radius (even if you have the faint glow of a warm thermal stone keeping you alive)

It’s something that is Literally already in the game, Klei just needs to let it actually be usable when you step outside of a light source, perhaps the trade off can be that doing so uses 1% or more durability of the spear each time (and since you can repair the spear by dashing into enemies.. it balances itself out)

Increasing the distance a dash can cover & being able to cross water gaps by riding a literal lightning bolt are things that would require additional dev work to give her a buff but as you can see in the above video: the first half of my request was already possible.

The Morningstar Hammer now restores durability near Lightning Rods and Generators.

The Volt Spear should receive the same mechanic as well.

Currently, it cannot regain durability without Bound Static, making it inferior to the Dark Sword in both prolonged combat performance and crafting cost.

After the upgrade, the Volt Spear should have its charging dash wind-up reduced to grant more fault tolerance in battle

So it appears that I stand to be corrected.

Wigfrid already CAN use the Elden Spear to dash over gaps of water, but the dashing distance is so laughably short… that the areas she can do it in have to be extremely narrow & it’s rare to get gaps that small.

I need to heavily stress that what I’m requesting here is NOT OP and it’s NOT unreasonable because WX78’s skill tree is far more broken. AND in any areas that I could fit a grass raft I would just place that down and hop across it… 🤦‍♂️

So as you can see in the two videos I’ve provided, she already does the things I’m requesting…. She just does them highly ineffectively and could really use a slight buff in her ability to do the things she already can do.
