Polly Roger's Hat needs a buff

Sometimes I'm given a Lazy Forager (by the Ancient Guardian's chest) and I don't always use it.  The Polly Roger is an even slower and version.  For this I have to get ambushed by a pirate raid, defeat the Prime Mate, take its hat, and capture a monkey flag, either from the pirate boat or from Moon Quay Island.  Then grow seeds until I get a pumpkin to build a Scarecrow to catch a Canary.  But since it's going to take more than 10 canaries on average to get a Saffron feather, I'll probably have to build a birdcage in the caves and put the canary in it for 6-12 real-world minutes, then release it on the surface to drop a half-dozen or so feathers so I can craft this hat.  Look, it's a handsome hat - with a bird!  But in terms of gameplay, I just feel like this much effort deserves a bigger reward.

Yes, it's built on the Captain's Tricorn which makes your boat last longer and I'm happy for that.  If it even added the abilities of the Pirate's Bandana (to operate sails and anchors faster and make paddles last longer) or had a way to shut off Poly Roger's collecting, that would be good.  Or make Poly Roger work as fast as the Lazy Forager.

Look, it's fun that the game has this complexity.  If I'm willing to twitch in an elaborate pattern for 12 minutes, I can kill Bee Queen for Bundling wrap.  If I take a half-season fiddling with pumpkins and canaries and manage to kill a pirate raid, I get a crummy knock-off of the Lazy Forager.
