before rifts, you can get dreadstone armor by defeating the nightmare werepig, so you have some planar defense to deal with the creatures from the rift, but there is only a shadow side option for the players, I suggest that a new armor be added to let the players have a lunar side option pre rift.

Or just make the wagstaff spawn his abondoned junk when the lunar storm event activate the first time in the world (it is still pre rift, and will give the player the choice between using W.A.R.B.I.S or dreadstone to deal with the things from the rifts).
