Swamp, open plan - Screenies & some tips

Swamp new fresh start...20 hours or so, cycle 240

I`m avoiding the 2nd teleporter colony for now and will attempt to build my first dlc rocket soon. I don`t do critters, so I`ll see if I manage without plastic.

As a general rule I`m trying to stick to max 10 dupes per 1x Swamp/Terra geyser, so max. 20 dupes :frown-new:

I would find it nice if Klei gives proper renewable resources in a big starter map, including oil wells, several fluid geysers of mixed temperatures, uranium, regolith, metals etc.

More variety and renewable resource stuff for initial base builders would be appreciated, like in the base game. That is and was the fun of the base game ONi for me, the fun-formula.

Cycle ~270 update, building some rocket in my one and only colony.

Simple ideas in the Swamp map

Trickle down economy - Simple concept to distribute geyser coldness in the Swamp map.

Want to refine a lot ? ...Building an AETN cooling block requires a lot of ladder construction. Metal blocks distribute temperature very fast to wherever you like. If you want to direct the block`s coldness in to some direction, then build insulation tiles around the block. Blocks underneath a cold -minus temperature geyser can easy make you a simple ice factory, just make sure that little fluid amounts remain cold for some time and do not flow away.

Klei likes to torture dupes in "Easy starter worlds"...If you want to drill at 500-1000 Celsius tiles to have your first oil well...without any protective suits at hand,

fill you borehole with fluid ( keep it "cool" by throwing ice plates in ) and let the dupes hold their breath and drill away. :afro:

Make sure that your dupes are always covered in cooling fluid as they are drilling. Afterwards you can suck the fluid out with a pump, suck suck !

I like it, seems like a reasonable workaround,  you can use the dame pump basin later and everything.

My whole thing was finding a non scalding area and grabbing some lead for local automation and wiring. I get drecko ranching going for suits, I just need to get the dupes in the suits and put then to work.

I plan to melt the rest of the lead out since I'm not aware of any other source of lead...haven't seen Galena ore or any lead volcano.

It looks like you going to make a boiler here? It can't wait to see it. It would be pretty easy to plop a steam turbine down and just feed the condensates into the oil well.

The struggle is getting plastic though.

Hey Plum :-P Hope you are well.

I found a few tons of lead in the 2nd Tele Colony, without the lead I would have been screwed.

It took 20 hours or so for me to get to my first dlc petroleum rockets - I`m so excited my friend ! :adoration: So far I only flew a few times with a small sugar rocket, for research.

The rockets will be standing in it at the end and shall launch from the bottom of the map, hopefully.

AETN & 3x Aquatuners currently for base and resource cooling. Hopefully I will get some reactors in to my big steam rocket room in a few thousand cycles. :angel: Over time the steam room shall be extended, to double the size.

Cant wait for Cherno-Party, spreading fires in the game would be great :excitement:

At the end I have to figure out how I can get 1000 tons of extra water to my base, that`s my endgame. The launches shall have 100 tiles of water raining for special effects graphics joy + big reactor cooling streams and waste pools. That`s my dream :rolleyes:

I finally got some reed fiber from a gift drecko and made my way into the oil biome. I need to rebuild my rockets, but I did all the 5pt orbital research I could with a sugar rocket and an iron gut pilot in a solo spacefarer. If I hadn't jumped off the pc, I would post a screen shot of it all.

I think we could agree on explosions, for instance, a fully charged battery being damaged or deconstructed should probably explode.

Glorious day in Titan Missile Complex of USAUDSSR-ONi !

Choko yellow cake and radioactive coffee are on launch standby with the mouse...Da Klei`s rocket fuel level indicators are broken as always,  but that`s ok for now. Scientist Cough Cestikov has everything prepared...but will it work :confused::confused::confused:

Like in glorious days of base-base, first build things...Then ask questions why it went wrong !

Too many lead suit dupes dying of suffocation... Now building 100 meter fast run track with metal tiles, leading to the rockets and construction sites. Launch attempt still delayed :rolleyes:

2n Tele-Colony gets lead suits and borehole oil well entry cage after hundreds of cycles always getting burnt to bits and grilled alive !

If you have a lot of open building projects in your colony and wants to have stuff built fast, then you can assign a lot of dupes to "building" with priority 2bars and set what they normally should to to priority 1bar.

If you do this with 20 dupes it will give you a speedy completion boost on all the open projects to be built in your colony :afro:

My one and only research rocket.

I had some time in it pining research of the lowest order before he got stressed after cycle three, I landed and have made plans to keep the rocket off limits while the germs on everything die off.

I have too many dupes with too few resources. My new execution directive is to get rid of the dupes which have developed the least "hearts" over time.

Not on the list...Billie has developed lots of hearts. :x

Hearts = Interests

It can only be "printed", not added later (I think there is a mod that tweaks how many interests a dupe can have, I don't know if it affects already printed dupes)

One hot radioactive coffee for my @sakura_sk friend :p ...but,but...is there a way to specifically train for new hearts, in a directed and planned manner ? :confused: Is the heart learning bound to the activity they experience, the activities they do ( like mining as example ) or are the hearts handed out somehow random ? There must be some kind of designed system behind it, with dupe traits and such :confused:

What is that for fakery to save game performance ? The rocket flew up a bit and then disappeared after flying a limited amount of tiles :frown-new: ? Dooooooohhhhhhhh !

So basically one can build a tiny box + giving a free line of sight for a short moment...and then the rockets magically disappear after flying a short distance upwards :frown-new::frown-new::frown-new:

Such a disappointment after waiting 4 months for this liftoff.

The current rockets don`t need a flight path for longer than a few seconds, they just warp away. Please make it like in the base game, flying the entire path. Such a let down compared to the old base game ! This was the greatest feature of the game for me and its currently crippled in the dlc, total Space Tech immersion breaker for me.

In the old base game one had to temperature prepare the launch path, to avoid that the rocket engine heat melts everything away in its path. Launching rockets was a real big event and was exciting for me in the base game.

Please bring the full flight path from the base game in to the dlc and let the rockets fly its full path length.

Does it matter though? You only need a few tons at most for high temperature stuff, and there are other better choices for automation etc.

This is true, I only consider it due to lack of available metal volcano on the coloby and relatively low melt temperature.

I would isolate. My wells and other infrastructure then use the magma and a bit of lingering sour gas as a heat transfer medium.

I would probably be better off making my way to the nearest moonlet.

Installing and extending the rocket launcher steam vent cooling solution. On rocket launches the escaping steam shall run as water in to the colony, to the right. It still has not been tested yet :roll:

5 steam engines and 3 aquatuners running as colony air con. The base is well developed and survived lots of crisis managed emergencies and is running good and stable ( for now! ). :anonymous:

Just about survived an co2 emergency desaster in the fresh uranium colony. Releasing 200 tiles of co2 with 30kg pressure per tile was quite a lot, nearly flooding the entire base :whistle: It was very exciting to fight for survival !

The oil well colony ( screenshots below ) is currently lost and I abandoned it, after playing it for 500 cycles, due to some ongoing heat desaster. I never managed to seal up some holes in a wall at the bottom left of the map, that was the death nail of the colony.

I pumped tons of cool water and ice in it already, it needs one well planned big push effort to cool the whole colony down in one go. To save the colony I need to arrive with 100 tons of ice or so someday, that will be operation "Glycol fix".

Putting a dupe in to that colony someday will be like watching the alien movies - Scary. In the future I may build lead suit entry/exits directly next to rocket platforms. Then its a bit easier to recover a lost, overheated colony :-P

Adding 1x aquatuner water cooler for the top hot stored rocket launches splash water. The splash water pool is also cooled with 7 thermo regulators. As a secondary effect all the coolers are also cooling the open-plan designed colony. On rocket launches there will be ~200 tiles of water splashing down for Michael Bay fun effect and cooling.

Klei headquarters made it possible that rockets fly through the entire map, this will enable hyper-speed.

Also Gravitas understood a bit better what we are trying to achieve here in the Titan Missile Silo, finally they sent more components and backup support. The rocket pile is stacking up. :ghost:

I told Dr. babba not to complain so much, but he seldom listens. I think its the coffee machine. - We are running out of Isotopes.
