networked 10 Report post Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) Hi networked. Can you try the "glcrash" steam branch? Instructions can be found here:http://forums.kleientertainment.com/showthread.php?1314-Issue-Steam-Version-Not-Working-for-You&p=12727&viewfull=1#post12727I'm having similar issues to cnkandrew's experience. There is a lot of mouse lag in the Steam version which does not show up in the Chrome version. It makes gathering things quickly and movement in combat much more difficult. The mouse cursor feels like it's moving through jello. The cursor isn't jerky, just very slow. It takes a few seconds for the cursor to catch up to where you are actually pointing the mouse.I'm glad to see the game can now load with the 8.15.10.2253 drivers though. Please let me know if I can provide any more info or feedback. Edited November 17, 2012 by networked
Cryx 10 Report post Posted November 17, 2012 Still not working.Intel GMA4500MI also could not get the game to work on my laptop that has a Intel GMA4500M.I reinstalled and updated drivers, I also tried the beta workaround. The best result was a second of the opening music before crashing in the beta. Otherwise I get the OpenGL error or the screen closes without ever displaying anything. IYM 10 Report post Posted November 17, 2012 Wow, I haven't touched the game in a day or two, but apparently whatever changes you made to the GL-beta version made a difference. When opening the game I noticed the "this is a test" message, and the "Creating world" window that pops up in the browser popped up--this has never happened for the steam version before. Then the game popped up! With colors other than black! It looks like it works fine, but I will mess with it later.

Deman 10 Report post Posted November 17, 2012 Here is another interesting story. I wasnt able to play on my i5 intel hd graphics laptop, the game would just close. But with the opengl beta i managed to play lag free. Now when i uninstalled the latest hp driver and manage to bypass and install the latest driver it started on the normal version without closing, however the lag is horrendous. So i guess it only works on the special bea of a beta version

ninjayjayjay 10 Report post Posted November 18, 2012 Great! I tried out the opengl beta and the game worked perfectly! Thank you very much! The only problems that I experienced from the beginning was that it seemed as though the graphics were very poor/not many colours but every part playable and very enjoyable! I had being playing the game until day 7 where the game completely crashed and screen went black, other than a glitched image of the waves. The sounds were still playing and when I hit 'esc' they stopped like they would when you usually enter the pause screen. So my point; the beta works! But crashes
Squiggles 10 Report post Posted November 18, 2012 (edited) I seem to have some issue closing the game. Game runs fine and appears to close normally when I exit from the menu. But when I try to launch Don't Starve again from the desktop shortcut, it tells me the application is already running. If I try to exit Steam from the system tray I get "Waiting for Don't Starve to shut down..." followed by "Please close Don't Starve before exiting Steam". Have to restart the computer to fix. Not sure if this is an issue with Don't Starve or just my computer or Steam.[EDIT] PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong place... wasn't sure whether to make a new thread or not Edited November 18, 2012 by Squiggles

sterno 10 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 Bug SubmissionPlease choose a category [Crash] PlatformSteamVersion Number - Issue title Game closes (without error message) on startup Steps to reproduce 1. Press the "Play" button on Steam. Describe your issue I just bought Don't Starve off Steam and installed it. When I try to run the game, I briefly see a completely white window pop up. It stays visible for a second or two and then closes. This seems to be the game trying (and failing) to start up. I've hit the "Play" button on Steam about 8 times with the same result every time. Verifying integrity the game cache didn't have any effect.I also tried running the game by navigating to dontstarve_steam.exe in my Steam install directory and running that, but it has the same effect. Here's a trimmed down dxdiag (to meet the 12000 character limit) in case it helps.------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 11/19/2012, 19:21:41 Machine name: Zezarict 14 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 My game was running slow and I saw that my drivers might be the problem, and yes, they were out of date, so I updated them. Now the game immediately crashes when I start a game.
Melendwyr 10 Report post Posted November 20, 2012 I have the same problem as everyone else, and essentially the same machine stats - I can run the Chrome demo, but my Steam-purchased game opens a white window and immediately closes.
