Corey 370 Report post Posted November 10, 2012 Some people have been having issues running the new Steam release of the Don't Starve Early-Access Beta. While there is one particular issue that is caused by having outdated video card drivers, that's not the case with everyone. We'll be looking at any crash reports or issues with launching Don't Starve on Tuesday when we return to the office after the holiday. In the mean time, if you are experience problems loading or playing the new Steam version, there's a few things that will really help us out.1) Make sure your video card drivers are updated MANUALLY. Sometimes the auto / windows update will say you are current, when you are not. Check your manufacturers website. This will fix some people's problems on the spot. 2) If your drivers are up to date, please let us know your full PC hardware specs. 3) Paste us any error messages or crash logs you encounter. If they're really long, you can use a service like http://pastebin.com. We'll still be doing our best to respond to any issues over the long weekend, and once we're back in the office we'll be able to push a new build!Other Potential Self Fixes:Manual Video Card Driver Check:http://forums.kleientertainment.com/showthread.php?1313-Don-t-Starve-on-Steam-Crash&p=10223&viewfull=1#post10223USB Peripheral Check:http://forums.kleientertainment.com/showthread.php?1289-Error-During-Initialization

Ankou 10 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Hey, thank you for continuing to work on this issue.I purchased this game this weekend on Steam and have been playing quite a bit on my desktop. I want to say first of all, great game. I've had it a couple of days and according to Steam have already played over 10 hours, I'm enjoying it very much so far. However, like others, I am experiencing a crash on my laptop. I click "Play" the window loads, then immediately closes without giving an error. I've just finished updating all my drivers on the laptop and I still get the same crash.I do have to wonder, like a couple of posters, if that crash is related to Intel chipsets. The desktop (a gaming setup) has a GTX 560 ti. The laptop, of course, has integrated graphics. Elmas 10 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Well, I introduce myself to the community saying that I can't wait to play the game, seems really enjoyable even is still a beta! However I haven't been able to play it yet. I have the same problem as most of laptop users here, which is that the game doesn't even start, when I click play it just displays a window for few seconds and it disappears , no critical message, no bipping, nothing (same problem as Ankou above here). I know you are working hard so thanks in advance!

ninjayjayjay 10 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 I'm also having the same problem as the others; blank window opens and immediately closes. I'm also using it on a laptop that has an intel chipset. My laptop specs are:Processor: IntelĀ® Core2 Duo CPU P8400 @2.26GHz 2.27GHzInstalled memory (RAM) 4.00GB (2.90GB useable)System type: 32-bit Operating SystemI'm not that knowledgeable as others when it comes to computers so I'm not sure how to get as much detail as some other posts lol!Hope you guys can fix the problem tomorrow! I really look forward to playing the game! Thanks!
JoeW 34425 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Seeing that these seem to be coming from only intel chipsets should certainly help track down the issue. I can't promise when that fix will make it out, but I can assure you that is a high priority issue. We will update tomorrow as Soon as we have better info. Thanks for your patience! joeboy8440 10 Report post Posted November 13, 2012 For those on laptopI have 8GB of ram and an Intel HD 3000. I ran into some issues as well regarding this particular title. I did some fiddling around, Run the game in Windows XP (Service pack 2) [For those of you who don't know how, open task manager with the blank Don't starve screen still running, rightclick on dontstarve_steam and go to the program location, then hit properties on that and run in compatibility.] Now, close it and re open it. It will still be blank. Now hit the maximize button. That's when it worked for me, so try it
