What's your thoughts about Warly?

I'm frankly not fond of playing him (and still salty we didn't get Gorge Goat cook instead).

His downside is one that's difficult, but not one I personally enjoy (like Wormwood). I absolutely love the support options his cooking provides, but I can't stomach essentially 'taking one for the team'—since his perks will be given to others without the added annoyance of his hunger mechanic. As he stands, he's useful to swap to for some seasoned Volt Goat Chaud-Froid. He doesn't see much use from me otherwise.

All that said, I've hardly played him. The few times I did, I simply didn't enjoy.

I don’t like Warly, his downside is annoying- unlike Wormwoods which is actually fun.

Warly has some cool skins, I just suck at playing as him.. I suppose he’s supposed to stand around cooking meals to feed other characters but that’s just not something I find exciting.

The backpack (chefs pouch) that keeps food fresher longer however is a pretty nice perk I think :)

I liked playing him, but it was mostly because I wanted to learn the new recipes. I couldn't benefit from all of his special recipes (because I got bored of that world) but for the most part was fun and I learned most.

I know that farming isn't that viable, food wise, but playing as Warly made it a bit more rewarding, overall. I wanted to play as a cook and getting all  those unique ingredients was crucial part of it. Now even when I start a new world and design my kitchen, I always dedicate a Warly corner because I like to change into him, cook all kinds of stuff and change back to my Wolfgang.

I primarily play as Wolfgang. And since eating is what he does, knowing and having all kinds of different special food is absolutely great. That being said, I view Warly as exactly this - a support character who helps his team mates.

I love playing Warly personally, mainly because I like using crockpot dishes and he proved an interesting challenge for me. His downside can be pretty harsh but I will say this about him:

Warly is definitely a character you play to mass produce a specific dish and swap, or to challenge yourself with a new playstyle. At the end of the day choose who you enjoy playing the most, be it meta or not; besides you could always just play Wolfgang or Wendy if your goal was to win DST anyways.

the only things Warly useful for is cooking volt-goat shaud-froid and fish cordon bleu, and then swapping to Wolfgang.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have only played warly a few times, but I like him, and then I have a friend who likes to play him very much, he is very skilled, for our team, he is very helpful.

I like playing as him in singleplayer and his DST recipes and seasonings are powerful, but his DST drawback is really harsh, all the more so since he didn't even get to keep his DS perk where he got bigger stat returns from eating crockpot food that he wasn't tired of. It's no surprise that he's always around the bottom of the list when someone tallies up how many people are playing each character on all the DST servers. Which is a shame, because I like his character design and personality; it's just difficult to keep him from starving to death.

I found him "hard" from even beginning (SW). To be honest he is hardest character to play with. Sadly, he look like me (same hair and beard style) and love cooking like me and I would be really happy to play with him if he was more easy to play :(

Imo he is perfect. His downside isnt an issue (just rotate between 3 dishes...) the healing could be an issue depending of player skill and his dishes are so useful (volt goat jelly is so op)

The only thing is that farms are boring and for thar i stopped playing him (that and the wigfrid rework)

I like playing him on pubs. I can handle myself there perfectly, I just need to find the base (or help build one) and hen I stay there the whole time, build the cage and cook for everyone. I never had a chance to play long term, and it's pretty difficult to set up a farm without Wormwood on the team, but in the end it's pretty fun. Eating a meaty stew is enough to replenish his hunger without him dropping interest in it (just make sure you throw in something else every few days) but it is a fact that playing him long term can be annoying/difficult. His downside sometimes is fun for me, figuring out what I haven't eaten recently and what I can cook for him, other times I'm traveling through the forest and I simply don't have ingredients and it pretty ridiculous dying of hunger with 2 carrots in inventory. Before you call me a noob, I just like certain playstyles which Warly cannot handle and that's okay. So he is a switch character for me, but even when I switch I usually stay as one character a whole year before changing.

I like him. He's my third favorite character, and partialy match with my "housewife" playstyle - the biggest dowside I found with his, he's not able to eat jerky, and before playing him I prefer to have bundle wraps for saving more rare resources or foods.

Without his bonus stats from Shipwrecked he doesn't get a lot for HIMSELF.

He just got some miscellaneous food buffs which don't feel that unique unto himself.

I like playing him with 20% more stats from foods, with a harsher repeat food downside, and a 3 day food timer instead of 2 days. Feels more rewarding to have a varied diet, and much more important too.

He just needs his singleplayer bonus stats from crockpot foods, that way it's rewarding to keep a varied diet instead of a chore, (He'll technically benefit from at least for health and sanity and at least break even with hunger).

I think he's pretty alright. I've always loved the variety of all the crockpot dishes you could make, but in reality you only ever regularly use 4 or 5. Because of his penalty, it makes managing your hunger (imo) more fun and challenging, you have to actually put thought into what you're eating instead of just existing off of meatballs and pierogi.  But like many others have mentioned,  it's a shame he doesn't get the health or food benefit from dishes that he does from SW. He's also got a pretty neat design and personality, so that's a plus. Tier list wise, he likely isn't very high up, but that's alright. As long as you enjoy playing a character, do whatever.

As far as playing goes, he's my #3 choice for human characters. Which makes him my #6 choice. I don't really play him. But I like his character. Can't speak on his balance since I play him so rarely.

He's a really fun challenge/roleplay character, one of my most played. If you want to try really hard he's not very good.

You don't have to rotate at all. If you don't care about the fun of making different dishes (at that point he loses a lot of his fun, though) you can just eat a meaty stew and meatballs and by the time you need to eat again you can do it again. You can alternate between a meaty stew and a couple of meatballs, too.

I like him but I don't think he makes sense. It's another attempt from klei to make farms useful which wormwood still overshadows, and wormwood needs to memorize the more niche farm dishes much more than Warly (fee fo fi thumb farm overhaul owo klei pls). I've played a lot of Warly and I can't say he's isn't fun once you get to know him, and he is a very charming wholesome bugger, BUT I wish klei had been more creative in their use of recipes and food to create an experience that doesn't try to utilize nonoptimal dishes and strategies in an unintuitive way. It's the same problem for me with Walter - love the idea but it doesn't change the poor range weapon mechanics, just doubles down on them in a passable way. I know I kinda pooped on Warly a little bit here but I do like him, I just wish he was a little more interesting with the crockpot recipes.

As a Warly main, the only thing I dislike about him is how most of his abilities can be used by another character - you can enter a world as Wolfgang or Wigfrid, rush Bee Queen, build Celestial portal, switch to Warly, make like 50 of each dish, wrap them up, then switch back to someone powerful in combat. Personally, I think Warly himself is fine as he is, he's not the only character with this issue, I think the Celestial Portal should be locked behind a greater achievment, like the Fuelweaver or... whatever is going to turn out from the Mysterious Energy.

His downside is, in my opinion, the most fun part of the character - I can understand why many people dislike it, but I love cooking in the game (actually in real life too), so being compelled to try out different recipes is a really fun challenge to me. About his advantages... Some say he's one of the worst characters in the game, but once you manage to survive the first winter, he actually becomes very strong, having about the same damage output as mighty Wolfgang with the pepper spice+ Volt Goat Chaud-Froid, and when the target is wet, his damage even exceeds that of Wolfgang. His penalty for eating the same food multiple times might seem like a very significant drawback for the first time when healing during boss battles, but you can actually bring along a bunch of different healing foods and survive. I am very bad at kiting and boss fights in general, but even I could solo Dragonfly and Klaus with him. The only boss fight where Warly actually performs worse than average is the Fuelweaver, where you'll need to raise your sanity quickly and effectively, which is easy to achive by eating dozens of cooked cacti - although Bee Queen Crown with clever use of Grim Galette can absolutely break the fight. Outside of combat, he's also a great resource gatherer because the Honey Crystals, his high stat foods like Moqueca and Bone Bouillon make overall surival easier, his portable Crock Pot, Chef Pouch and Glowberry Mousse make him a fine character for ruins rushing, while Asparagazpacho, Fish Cordon Bleu and Hot Dragon Chili Salad help lowering seasonal threats. Honestly, I think he could use a nerf.

His personality is also probably my favourite in the game, he has an unfunny humour like Wilson, but he's overall much more optimistic and bright, and the fact I like cooking in real life makes him very likeable for me. (Seriously, I couldn't believe it when I heard they're bringing him to DST and his rework was one of the best 2019 updates.)

perhaps i oughtn't get a say since i never play as him but i do play with multiple people who regularly do and honestly i havent seen him suffer on any team with a farm and a couple crock-pots. he works well with players like me who are more keen on farming and gathering since we both benefit from the ridiculous amount of food you get from an advanced farm and access to a beefalo herd. i could imagine that if someone was good enough at the game to beat bq with him would be super op since he's really only limited from rushing by the pervasiveness of rot
