pharmswede
Not sure this is doable by mod, or if it has been (or similar), perhaps someone could point me in the right direction? It would be interesting if the map remained hidden until it is dug out, instead of the wide area revealed automatically by dupe proximity. Essentially, make it so we cannot "see" through un-dug tiles. This would make digging out an area quite thrilling.
SharraShimada
Interesting idea, but it would also take hours over hours to reveal even a small part of the map, because you have to mine it completely to see whats even there...
pharmswede
You're right. Perhaps it would work best if one could only see, say, three to five squares out. It would ideally be configurable.

pharmswede
Yes! That was the mod I found before coming here. Originally, darker dark was my other request, but Cairath's "Light's Out" mod does it quite well. I think that the constant debuff pop-ups are a bit much. It does hide the surrounding terrain pretty well if you set the darkest dark to totally dark. You're right, pretty well but not perfect. You can still see, for instance, plant warnings and distant sources of light out in the otherwise unplumbed unknown.
