The only one that didn't have an answer that represented myself was why I joined the forums. I joined because back before DST was supported by the steam community market, this was one of the only outlets for trading skins.

Other? (Comment below)

I got into DST right after the forge, for probably the dumbest reason. The first time I saw Don't starve is when I was around 11? I saw a youtuber I liked playing the game, and thought it was scary That was a long time ago, though.. I Got the game in 2017, in probably my cringiest phase of my life. Long story short, Anime mods. Yeah...

But hey I no longer use them so, it's fine, right? right????

I started playing back when research points were a thing and Maxwell's voice was different. Biomes were circles and connected by bridges.

I don't know if it was Alpha or Early Access Beta.

I learned about the game from an artist I followed. And now I get other people interested with the pictures I draw now lol.

1.  I think when I came in to Don't Starve, Shipwrecked was still in beta...?  I remember reading patch notes, including "Monkeys will no longer steal traps" (thank.  GOD.  EFFING MONKEYS!) and "Woodlegs can now drown".  : P

But MY playing actually started with plain Vanilla until I could get to at least Day 100 without any help (thereby proving I at least knew "the basics"), THEN switched to Reign of Giants, even though that had been out for a while when I got here.

2.  2016, SMACK dab at the time DST hit full release, or within a day or two of it. That wasn't planned; I went there looking for somewhere with a group atmosphere of other fans to talk to and just happened to hit that timing

3.  And that answers question 3.  Heh.

4.  Other. WAAAAAAY back in the depths of Internet Antiquity (2003 I believe), there was an online game called "Kingdom of Loathing".  (If you've seen or heard of Markiplier's playthrough of WEST of Loathing--same universe, same writers, artists, etc.)  Actually i don't know why I said "was", it's still around and _they're still updating it_!

Anyway.  What this has to do with Don't Starve, is that the creators of the game had a weekly shoot-the-crap/game talk podcast that I took to listening to, because it was very funny.  Years later, they started adding seperate, specialised podcasts.  One of them ("Video Games Hot Dog") was to talk about other games BESIDES their own, and sometimes they mentioned stuff I thought sounded interesting.  And ONE of these mentioned games, one day, was--you guessed it!--Don't Starve.

I kind of had that in the back of my mind in the "would be interesting to look into someday" pile for WAY the freak too long before I realised "HEY!  STUPID!  YOU ALREADY WATCH LET'S PLAYS ALL THE TIME!  WHY HAVEN'T YOU LOOKED UP ONE FOR DON'T STARVE?!"

So I did, and by the time I finished all of Jacksepticeye's (short and tragic) run and part of Sips's Willow run, I was DEFINITELY decided, and got the game.  :)

5.  Adventure mode? HA HA HA HA HA (slaps knee) that's a good one!  You must be talking to my non-existent evil twin over there.  _She's_ the one who's actually, like, GOOD at games that involve combat and reflexes.  Me?  There's a reason why, when I mess with the world settings, I tend to make the WEATHER worse and not the mobs.  : P

...Notorious

Ok, I'm ashamed now that I remember. It's on my "2 do" list:

1: Finish Lupin. All the Lupin.

2: Complete adventure mode

3: Do a Darkest Dungeons playthrough that isn't just screwing around.

4: I saw a note saying "DESIGN" in all caps in my notebook, but I can't remember what it was for. Maybe it's a horrible secret I blocked it from my mind to retain my sanity.

I remember KoL, but I quit playing it years ago because it had become a terrible addiction that was interfering with university.  (still finished that 98% blackbird Bad Moon run, though)  Instead, I found DS through TVTropes' random button, Sips Willow run, a missed sale, TVTropes random button again, more of Sips Willow run, and then another sale.  (Any sales people here who get hassled by the boss about having to make 7 follow-up calls... I'm sorry.)

That resulted in getting the game after the DST Beta was announced, but a year before it went public.  I think it was just before the private beta sign-up period ended.  Does that count as before the beta, or during?

Well, at this rate 20. Telecom sucks at overseas distribution and all the piracy sites are like "the Secret of Mamo"? Who the hell would want to watch some obscure 70's show tie-in movie called "the Secret of Mamo"? Lets invest in this show about schoolgirls wearing wet tights instead (yes. That exists.)

When did you start playing Don't Starve (/Together)?

The Birds and The Bees and The Dogs That Want To Kill You (update.)

When did you join the Klei forums?

  • March 23, 2013. Accidentally messed up my vote for that question a little.
Quote

What was the reason you joined Klei Forums?

Honestly can't remember, because I promptly chose to ignore it for almost 2 years. I do mostly use this account to comment on recent developer decisions I may or may not agree with.

How did you find out about Don't Starve (Together)?

That's a tough question since it's been so long. Flare2V is the reason I fell in love with this game however.

Out of curiosity, have you completed adventure mode (in a clean way, without cheating)?

Considering I pretty much pioneered the idea of doing Double Adventure Mode to change characters... I've done Adventure Mode many times, and even for fun when extremely bored. (Also fun fact, the amount of Berry Bushes in Epilogue was specifically chosen as the amount needed to survive off of raw until the Berries grow in again... I once spent 50 days in Epilogue just for the sake of doing it. Initially the challenge of it was really fun, but it quickly grew boring.)

1.

i started playing dont start together not long before the gorge

2.

i joined it when it became possible to sign up for hamlet beta

3.

so i could use bug report, and share stuff i found in the hamlet beta

4.

i wanted to get steam trading cards during a sale, so i could sell them, and i could get one each day for playing a game i had not yet played, which was free to play during the sale. i usually just installed the game and then de-installed it after launching it, but i had heard the the name of the game "dont starve together", so "why not try it". i bought it 2 days after.

5.

after serveral attempts with webber and Wilson, i tried with warly. i completed adventure mode without dying as warly.

I started playing Don’t Starve Pocket Edition back in 2017, I had seen early gameplay footage on YouTube back in 2012/2013, and when I saw the game on the App Store, I felt really nostalgic and bought it since it was only $0.99. Don’t Starve is really a great game, it has procedurally generated worlds, although it has a theme, and interesting characters with personality. I’m glad I found out Don’t Starve Together existed this year, I had no idea Klei made a multiplayer version of Don’t Starve. Don’t Starve Together seems really fun,the community is nice, and the unique DLC is exciting. I’m going to save up for a PC so I can play in the future.
