Just wanted to pop in here and make a comment on this and let people know we're aware, and also read the apology letter as best we could with translations. We understand why people might be upset about the similarities, being that (from what we understand) to be from some kind of original design showcase for students. Quite honestly, we're pretty flattered that Don't Starve was such an inspiration for this student's work. As far as we can tell they are not selling or profiting from this, and with the posting of their letter it has made it additionally clear that our work and theirs are separate. They also don't appear to be using our exact assets or creations, they drew their own and were possibly influenced by Don't Starve's style. This project seems to fall within our community creation guidelines at this time, and honestly if the student had sent us this in a tweet or an email saying they were a fan of Don't Starve, we'd probably have shared it and thought it was cool. In short, from what we can gather we believe this kinda sorted itself out and was appropriately clarified by the student and the school and we're flattered any time people are inspired by something we've done. Thanks to everybody who reported this situation to us, we appreciate the support. We wish the student the best and hope they continue to pursue and experiment with art and design.
