Max5081
Same here. I've explored a whole world worth of savannah and no beefalo at ALL. No droppings, infinite bunnies, though I haven't seen any trees there.I've also noticed on SOME worlds bees don't spawn.
tisiphone3680
I went through 5 worlds yesterday looking for a suitable one. The first 4 had no berries and no beefalo. Bleh, no point in playing those especially after the winter update. World 5 is pretty sweet though. It has all the things. It also has a center which is incredibly useful if you don't want to travel four days to get from the beefalo to the tallbirds.
Developer Wade Posted March 7, 2013 Developer Share Posted March 7, 2013 Not all savannas will actually have the Beefalo on them, but usually if you have a large savanna, you will be able to find a few. We're actually tweaking the world generation system for the next update, and you will be able to have more control as to how often different types of creatures are spawning.Hopefully this should also improve the spawn rate of creatures on the default generation maps as well. quackmyface
Not all Savanna's have to be big to spawn Beefalo. I had just cheated to get Beefalo by using 'c_spawn ("beefalo" 4)' command, so I could have an infinite wool supply (and my Koalefant seemed pretty lonely, as only 1 spawns per a world). After I had successfully gotten my 4 Beefalo, I decided to explore a small area of savanna, so small I could see the edges of the savanna on the screen without looking at the map. And what did I find there?A COMPLETE HERD OF 6 BEEFALO
Developer Wade Posted April 22, 2014 Developer Share Posted April 22, 2014 Yup, the Beefalo can spawn on any size Savanna, but they are more common on the larger sized ones.
Sinxar
This is the first time I have encountered this issue personally. I fully explored my latest ROG world (fully updated as of May 2nd) and there is only 1 beefalo in the world. Would it be possible to make them at least spawn a minium of 2 per world? At least they can reproduce then.... unless it doesn't work like that. Honestly I don't know if they work like rock lobsters (where one will spawn more) or do they need at least two? Developer Wade Posted May 2, 2014 Developer Share Posted May 2, 2014 You should be seeing more than 1 Beefalo in a world unless something has become broken in our world spawner. There are actually mods available in the Workshop which will show you where the Beefalo are located in a world. If there is a single Beefalo, it should still be able to reproduce though, as I don't believe we check the Beefalo count.
Sinxar
No idea if the spawner is broken or not. It might be worth noting there was a lot of savanna biomes but they were all very small (3 screens wide max, most fit entirely on screen).
Developer Wade Posted May 5, 2014 Developer Share Posted May 5, 2014 It could be that you just had a weird world generated. I'll do some world generation today and see if anything needs to be tweaked.
Roody
Just today I loaded up a world and after exploring for around 16 days (I dont make a home until i find beefalo to settle close by) i uncovered most of the map and never found any beefalo. Strangely i found a skeleton with 3 beefalo fur, a spear, and a beefalo hat in the middle of a savana, but no beefalo. This was on the mobile version by the way, so not sure if maybe the mobile version is outdated or something.
