The truth about Wagstaff

All credits to Sundra for this theory, me for formatting and writing.

PART 1:

Lets just get the big thing out of the way first. We do not meet Wagstaff in DS.

Well, we do. But that's not REALLY Wagstaff. Wagstaff's sitting at home eating scones on his armchair of whatever he does, while he's using the PR-76 (PRojection device) to attune himself to the Constant or wherever you are. He is nothing but a projection, a man half in the world, hence why he still interacts with it.

Proof:

Spoiler

"Out of World, Projected" tag.

Wagstaff gets blurry and voice becomes more and more distorted when damaged.

Wagstaff doesn't really care about danger, and is more curious than afraid.

PART 2:

This is when it starts to get confusing.

Wagstaff see's WX, and other robotic creations like the Clockworks. This is possible because time in the constant, as quoted by Maxwell: "Makes no ******* sense dude"-real Maxwell quote

Wagstaff creates WX-78 (IRL) to form as a means to access the constant in more... efficient means, allowing him to truly interact with the one thing he desires.

The nightmare throne, the secret to ultimate power.

Oh, but how does he meet WX?

The nightmare throne, the secret to ultimate power. Again.

When Wagstaff takes the throne from WX, he leaves (the throne appears empty when the player next reaches it), and sets his ULTIMATE PLAN into action.

Proof:

Spoiler

When seeing WX on the throne: "is that...? But it couldn't be!"

Multiple WX and Wagstaff quotes reference voxila and other machine components. I cant bother to write them all down, there are a lot of numbers.

He admires the work of the clockworks, and even states he's created other automation's of his own.

PART 3:

Wagstaff begins work on his very own portal, not dissimilar to Wilson, through which he shall send WX-78. He designs his voxila radio to be tuned to the constant in order to receive instructions from Maxwell, or whoever's in control.

He activates it, sends in WX and than meets the night creature. Needless to say, they don't hit it off great and he gets pulled in. For realsies this time. In the ensuing chaos, one of his workers is sucked in and the factory burns down.

COMPLETE TIMELINE:

Spoiler

Real Timeline: 1. Wagstaff learns of other worlds, and a portal of "ultimate power" that would allow you to LINK these worlds and travel between

2. Wagstaff builds the PR-76 and detects the Constant

3. Wagstaff sees objects he finds notable: Maxwell's Door (He wants to meet the creator and learn about it), Night Creature (He would like to meet them), Clockwork (Automatons? Incredible.), Broken AAC Device (He doesn't find this notable at this point, but remember it.)

4. He reaches Maxwell and learns about Maxwell's Door.

5. He is unable to meet the night creature.

6. He is inspired by the Clockwork.

7. Ending the projection, he begins work on an automaton of his own - WX-78.

8. He begins work on a portal of his own - The one seen in "Next of Kin"

10. Wagstaff is able to meet the Night Creature via his portal. She's not the nicest.

11. Wagstaff is pulled in through his portal by Charlie

13. Seconds later, Winona is pulled in through Wagstaff's portal by Charlie

Constant Timeline:

1. Maxwell on the throne

2. Wagstaff sends in devices, potentially creating the clockwork - creating the AAC device, WX-78, Divining Rod/PR-76, Gramophone/ML-77, etc.

3. Wagstaff enters as a projection

4. Wilson on the throne

5. Charlie gains the throne

6. Wagstaff & Winona enter for real

Once again, kudos for Sundra for all the work. I just wrote it down and put in funnies.

1 thing is wrong.

You said that Charlie is in control now and then she kidnaps Wagstaff and Winona.

Next of Kin clearly shows Charlie in her state b4 she sat on the throne

Fixed. That must've avoided my gaze.
