Ohmygod, the Harry Potter theme in ragtime is ABSOLUTELY Don't Starve-esque!!  It's a magical spooky minor-key thing...then sped up and put into ragtime.  IT'S GOING-INSANE MUSIC HAVING A PARTY.  We're cuttin' a rug as the shadow monsters try to eat us!   That music would absolutely be used on one of their old trailer videos, if it wasn't a remix of a copyrighted thing.

Me...I'm boring.  I do listen to some video game music and stuff, but most of what I listen to is just ordinary pop/rock music by artists that Americans would have heard of, with famous names and tunes you might've heard in commercials, not indie and modern-classical stuff and such.  The twist:  A lot of it is OLD.  But not all.  I can like bits of anything if it's good.  YouTube has figured this out--partly--because ya know how last year, I made a chronological '50s playlist?

Spoiler

(the ENTIRE '50s, not just the rock era, which is why it starts with a song by the Andrews Sisters.)

(EDIT:  Found the stupid spoiler thingie!  It was just in a different place.  I kept looking over where the "preview" thing is.)

Now YouTube is recommending things to me like "Mr. Sandman" by the MacGuire sisters.  Um...you're a HAIR behind the curve there ol' Tube, the '50s collection was 2019.  Also I already have the original by the Chordettes in there, thankyouverymuch.

Just lately, i saw a playlist called "The Milennial Mixtape" and I was like "Okay, I'll bite...I wonder what all they'll include?" and have been enjoying most of it WAY more than I thought I would...and it seems I'm not the only one, 'cos just about _every single song_ has at least a few top comments on it about "Who's listening to this in quarantine?"  "QUARANTINE PARTY 2020, WHOO!" and I swear, at least some of them were watching the exact same videos I was, in the same order, from the timing of these comments.  (I'd link it here, but I don't seem to be able to.  Just type "milennial mixtape" into the search bar and you'll find it.)

Another new track from Dance Gavin Dance! NEW. ALBUM. IS. SO. CLOSE.

Dance Gavin Dance - Lyrics Lie

Spoiler

I need to take some time, I focus on my brand
Learn to love myself for who I am
Find my destiny written in sand
And let it all go to my head

See I feel my slit get wrist tight
Written on my mitten
Feeling angry go go night night
Me go feed the pigeons
Well some of you guys asked about
How I fit this in my mouth
Well there's link below my pout
Entrepreneurs rule, yeah!

It was real real nice to meet you
Hope you learned what I had to teach you
Got my chips stacked up to beat you, beat you
If the world doesn't defeat you
If the mob doesn't delete you
Nobody even really needs you
Anyway

Remember when we felt alive?
No, I dont think so!
Remember when we almost died?
That never happened!
Remember when you tried to kiss her
But she was gay and liked your sister?
I don't remember at all, I guess sometimes lyrics lie!

Read some Plato, Faulkner, read some Rand
Photos on Mt. Fuji in Japan
Went to Paris, Rome, and Kyrgyzstan
And let it all go to my head
Now I'm all cultured and educated
Quite qualified to be the one that made it
I've got what it takes to inspire you

Well some of you guys asked about
How I fit this in my mouth
Well there's link below my pout
Entrepreneurs rule, yeah!

It was real real nice to meet you
Hope you learned what I had to teach you
Got my chips stacked up to beat you, beat you
If the world doesn't defeat you
If the mob doesn't delete you
Nobody even really needs you
Anyway

Remember when we felt alive?
No, I dont think so!
Remember when we almost died?
That never happened!
Remember when you tried to kiss her
But she was gay and liked your sister?
I don't remember at all, I guess sometimes lyrics lie!

Sorry, didn't mean to flex
Just sit back down and learn from the best
I was born with a silver spoon
Feeding me pure fortitude
Confidence and stamina
I'm focused like a camera
I am, I'm a goddamn animal
Oh, everything comes natural

It was real real nice to meet you
Hope you learned what I had to teach you
Got my chips stacked up to beat you, beat you
If the world doesn't defeat you
If the mob doesn't delete you
Nobody even really needs you
Anyway

Another day, Another new single off the new album!

Dance Gavin Dance - Three Wishes

Spoiler

I was a little worried after the first 45 seconds that it was TOO poppy. It balances out though...

Here's one for the Spanish speakers! As far as I know, no one in this band is Latino, yet here's a song mostly in Spanish. Apparently this album was heavily influenced by Latin music and this song really seals the deal.

Dance Gavin Dance - Calentamiento Global

Spoiler

Anyone able to translate for me? I know it's going to be some ridiculous lyrics.

I love the non-singer's vocals on this one. It's basically an Every Time I Die song.

Dance Gavin Dance - Say Hi

Spoiler

And this might be my 2nd favorite song on the new album so far. Just a good bar brawl jam.

Dance Gavin Dance - Night Sway

If this was in Japanese it'd sound EXACTLY like an anime intro. I'm not complaining. Just sayin'.

Dance Gavin Dance - Parody Catharsis

Spoiler

At 2:48 in this song is exactly how I felt about this album coming out

Dance Gavin Dance - One in a Million

Okay okay, so I did find ONE newer song that kinda fits in with the rest of these...the new single from THE KILLERS!

Spoiler

I loved their first album, played it to death.  So cool to see they're still out there and kicking.

Notes on the other stuff (on this page)

--SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO!!  Awesome sci-fi anime.  I haven't seen the "2199" version though...

--NSA:  Well, I can tell you the title of that Spanish song is "Global Warming"...but you probably already guessed that.

--The "Bendy and the Ink Machine" drum cover is bad.  freaking.  ass.

--Oh, so you've "never worn white", huh, Katy Perry?  THIS VIDEO begs to disagree.  ;)  (Not my own comment, _tons_ of people were saying that.  lol.)
