Someone said "don't build the game around the noobs"...

This defines the mentality of most everyone still willing to post on the subject.

Anyone courageous enough to suggest we don't forget the newbies is beaten down by the same crowd that screams for challenge.

Not selectable challenge mind you. This is why Wes isn't popular. The "tougher" crowd want's the game tougher without option.

My suggestion doesn't make the game harder, though. It makes insanity less exploitable. Big difference.

That was the quote (and the mentality too prevalent in this forum) I was talking about. Agree or not; the OP presented an intelligent position.

On that note- if all of the OP's changes were implimented, it would make the game harder. By itself, that's not a bad thing.

So long as it doesn't make it tougher for the newbies than it already is. Go too far with the tougher mentality and we will lose them in our dust.

We have to wait and see, to be honest. According to Kevin's post, there are changes to the sanity that will make it a looming threat for the later game.

Don't change Day 1-10. Aside from that all is fair game. We were all noobs at one point, but look where we are now, on Day 300-900.
