Craft some items, press the arrows?

So, when I'm crafting sometimes when I hover over an item (when I want to craft something) The little box doesn't pop up and sometimes I don't know what that item is. I think it happens when discovering new things. It is really annoying as sometimes I don't know what an item is and what it requires.
