The main downside is big sanity drain which is a rather serious annoyance earlygame (inb4 akshually you want to be insane). Treasure is really nice but doesn't have too much actual survival value, you can get some gems when it comes to rare useful things, that's it. Sea Legs is simply an unlimited boat cannon, because using this boat to actually travel is terrible due to it's low speed. Woodleg's voice and personality is great.
