Research Inventory Reset

Steps to reproduce

Create the next world portal.
Proceed to exit world.
At character select screen exit out to title screen.
Exit game.
Enter game and load save file.
Select character and proceed to next world.

Describe your issue

I played the first world with Wendy and then the second world with Wilson. My research and inventory was still there. The exit portal items were right near the spawn so I just built it and moved onto the next world. But instead of selecting the next character and continuing, I backed out to the title screen and exited the game for a break. When I went back to the game I picked Wilson again, but when the world loaded I had no items or research unlocked.
