Losing health when eatting rabbit and berries?

Mostly I live off rabbit and berries, I've noticed since the update every time I eat cooked rabbit meat and roasted berries my heart meter drops some. Is this suppose to happen? If it is, what can I do to avoid it?

Also I just realized I am spawning ridicules amounts of rabbits, I have 2 rabbit holes near my camp and have gotten 10 meat in less than 5 minutes. They are spawning like crazy
