Silentdarkness1
So I read on the wiki that the Dragonfly makes a good, albeit dangerous way to deal with the other giants. Well, they got it right on the "Dangerous" part. I tried to get the Deerclops and Dragonfly to infight. It failed explosively, and everybody except myself and the giants in question died. How exactly are you supposed to make this work?

ShadowDuelist
Best way I managed to do this is to walk bearger or deerclops to dfly arena, and once both of the giants are near each other but still aggroed to you, put them to sleep (sleepytime stories, or panflute). Then, you need to either move away enough for them to not instantly aggro on you again but close enough to still sort of witness what's going on, or you can bush-hat hide in place. Dfly will most likely kill deerclops in the first round, however, Bearger will prove to be a much tougher enemy for dfly, so she will start summoning larvae (which, for some weird AI coding, will immediately target you even if you are far away or hidden in a bush) Therefore the best way to survive bearger-dfly fight is to either lock yourself behind walls, or wall in all lava ponds before the fight. Silentdarkness1
Yes, but we never got to the point where we were prepared enough to go into caves/deal with permanent Batsilisk spawns.

PS: keep in mind that Bearger will destroy walls like nothing during the fight, so you need to be very careful around that. Walling myself in, slightly away from the lava ponds area usually worked better for me.
MondayNight
Or just aggro Bear against Deer by making TheAngryOneEye area-attack hibernating teddy and then enjoy your winter popcorn: scrawny Clops will be K.O in first round. Plus one bear will withstand about 3 deer (if you're not in a hurry to kill it).
Rellimarual
I've done this, and it just requires fancy footwork. You get Clops to swipe at you while DF is in range (and maybe vice versa, but I haven't done that yet), causing DF to aggro on Clops. Same with Clops and Bee Queen, who will clobber him and then just go away if you run out of range. You do have to be able to take some hits first, though. ItsPizzaTime
I would honestly just take the deer to a dense forested area and have it attempt to spawn a tree guard, you've got almost guaranteed chances of getting the loot from deerclops + all the logs you get from having the deer look for treeguards makes it a pretty efficient way to gather wood. In my instances of having the two bosses fight i've almost always lost the loot from clops due to lavae or the dragonfly enraging randomly and burning the clops on death. Â That has been my experience, but it sometimes takes a while to get it right. Most mobs will attack the thing that attacks them rather than chase a player who's not attacking them, although Bee Queen is particularly stubborn in this respect. Silentdarkness1
So far it seems like the strategy I want to use is: -Lure Deerclops to Dragonfly, and let them both aggro on me -Use Pan Flute -Attack Deerclops immediately to wake him up -Start running the very moment he begins winding up his AOE -It will hit Dragonfly, she will wake up, and attack Deerclops. That a valid option? EDIT: with bonus points for noping out of there via Telestaff

EDIT: with bonus points for noping out of there via Telestaff Yeah that's fine, can alternatively walk the Deerclops in, sleep them both walk away, the Deerclops will then choose the closest target when you're out of aggro range and go after the Dragonfly by default. Rellimarual
Does seem like a waste of the pan flute, though. On the other hand, it's fun to watch.
Silentdarkness1
Eh. I don't actually find myself using Pan Flute that often, because it gets put under "Is Awesome, Ergo, Do Not Use" with my brain.
Caps Lock
I find it easier to use Bearger for Deerclops, since the yawning attack basically makes the Clops be unable to scratch the Bearger. Sadly he's not around during the first winter.

Actually bear yawns when area-attacked, puts deer to sleep, smacks him good and goes back to hibernation; deer wakes up from said pommel, aggroes on bear's hind, this one yawns again, process repeats. Bear does get damage but having a bigger HP pool and attack (6k vs 4k, 200 vs 150 dmg), 'mushes' clops pretty quick.

Yup, i mainly said it as a form of speech since, when you're witnessing them battle, it looks as if the bearger isn't really taking much damage aside from the occasional hit the Clops manages to land.
