So I have heard a little about an "easter egg" in the latest update video. I'm not sure how many people know about this, so I wanted to post it here.

For a split second in the video, at 1 minute and 16 seconds, a QR code flashes on the screen. It actually happens multiple times in the video, 3 I think, but this was the biggest one.

Pretty interesting, huh? Well, if you scan this QR code, it brings you to a website. Specifically: http://www.dontstarv...ning/shhhh.html

This page shows a somewhat creepy picture of Maxwell (I'm assuming) and words flash by the picture every once in a while. These words say:
"Your eyes deceived you.
I'm afraid they've lied.
What matters most,
is on the inside."

If you right click on Maxwell and use whatever the function is in your browser to "Save as", for Google Chrome it is "Save Image As"

Once you save this image, it is in the format of a PNG file. It is named "forbidden_ knowledge" and it looks just like a regular image, right? Wrong. If you have WinRar installed on your computer then go ahead and change the file extension to ".rar". Then open that up, and you'll find an image inside that named "Insanity.png" and opening it will present you with this image:

What could this mean? More monsters? Does Wilson have the power to sleep now without a straw roll? Or are the Dev's just messing with us?

Edits:
From Insanity
In the "Page Source", the line
<!--Forbidden Knowledge doesn't come easy. To unzip these lips you'll need to take a long hard look inside. -->
Was found in the body part of the html script.
Also, there is another link that shows a clue: http://www.dontstarv...images/clue.jpg

So I have heard a little about an "easter egg" in the latest update video...

Although as you heard, they/we/others have already discovered it, I must say GREAT work figuring it out! We need more people like you and I'd like to express my gratitude towards you, because you did a GREAT work, even if you weren't the first this time. I like that more fellow "lurkers" ( That's our name now, alright? ) are joining us every update.

There is always next time! So keep up that damn good work.

And to ALL you "There is already a topic, people have already found it, whatever-I-don't-care"-people out there, SHAME on you. You are discouraging future lurkers when they show effort, hard work and wits.

As always It's been a pleasure!

Oh......you bested me sir! Darn you! *Shakes fist*. Still he compiled the information into something readable, which the other topic DOES NOT ( unless they edited it a lot... ). So he is still doing a good job!

EDIT:

Never-mind, they have. I'll just hide in the ground for a while, shame on me.

Wise words my friend.

Slowly, people will realise all the fun behind those puzzles. I'm trying to call people to help and have some fun with us. Some times the timezones are the problem but if anyone want to show what they discovery after on the apropriate thread or creating another thread, personally I don't mind. I love to see the whole thing with their eyes and how they think.

Who discovered this and that first, it doesn't matter. I know that for Klei, it doesn't matter too. The most important thing is we are having so much fun with those puzzles.

Sometimes I want to try to organize the whole thing. For example, we can have some people taking the images of the videos, posting them on the forum and others trying to solve if that image means anything. I don't know, sometimes it's a waste of time having 20 people doing the same thing. If that will work, only the time can say.

I few weeks ago, myself and w00tyd00d started a thread about some discoveries that we made. We had so much people helping there. Guys, I can't find the words to say. All I can say that I have so much fun that when I went to bed and looked at the clock were 3am and I had to work at 9:00am. When I started the new thread, all I was thinking is to have the same feeling. Surelly I had.

I wanna say one last thing, if you try your best the result is not important. Share your thoughts with us and maybe we can help a little. I do this every time. In one of the puzzles, I was working with my boss (the company owner) next to me. I was doing two things at the same time, helping a friend right next to me to solve a big application problem and on the other monitor the video of the music box. As you guys know, I missed some notes there but hey at least I tried. And 6 or 7 from 18 or 20, it's not too bad for me ;)

The forum have a lot of intelligent people and people with interesting thoughts. There's so much things that we can do together. You don't have to be alone ;)

I found this out too but I did it a tiny bit diffrent
You go to the part with the qr code, and you scan, it leading you to a creepy picture of maxwell.
In the url, replace forbidden_knowledge with images/clue.jpg.
http://www.dontstarv...images/clue.jpg
Then go back to the maxwell one, and open up page source.

You should get something like this:
"<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
<link href='http://fonts.googlea...Ultra Condensed' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
<!-- General Analytics Page Track Code -->
<script type="text/javascript">
var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-29422762-1']);
_gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'dontstarvegame.com']);
_gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

(function() {
var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();
</script>

</head>

<body>
<div id="vcenter">
<div id="main">
<div id="dialog">
<div id="textarea">
<CENTER>
<div class="look-inside">
<div id="elem0" class="toBeFaded">
<!--Forbidden Knowledge doesn't come easy. To unzip these lips you'll need to take a long hard look inside. -->
<img src="http://dontstarvegame.com/science/deeper-meaning/images/forbidden_knowledge.png">
</div>
<div id="elem1" class="toBeFaded">
<img src="http://dontstarvegame.com/science/deeper-meaning/images/forbidden_knowledge.png">
</div>
<div id="elem2" class="toBeFaded"> "

Knowing the 'zip' clue
You go to the maxwell image, and save as forbidden_knowledge.zip.

Thanks for the shoutout, cejoga, and I couldn't agree more with you and Moonkis that the more the merrier when it comes to solving this stuff. I love how Klei gives us these puzzles to try and solve because the community comes together to all throw in their two cents on how to solve it, which is awesome. Some of the solutions other people have come up with I would have never dreamed of, but that could very well just be me. I enjoy reading other people's theories on what they think the solution could be too, whether I agree or not, and many people get really creative lol. I definitely encourage everyone to try their wits at solving Klei's puzzles (and, uhh, maybe mine? :D) and don't be shy to show what you've come up with so far in the forums. Although I do agree with cejoga that I think it should stick to one post rather than multiple, just to keep it organized...

I can't wait for the next update! I gotta try and get on the forums more myself, I've been so busy at work I haven't been able to contribute much as of late. :( I pretty much missed that whole thing with the music box; only just heard about it on friday. (solution elsewhere, spoilers!)

But he did figure out to alter the pic into .rar format and then unzip it to show the other image. Something I personally would never have thought to do.

Yes, I found the QR code and got to the webpage and then used the other information to see the image.

I didn't want to show anything new, I just wanted to sort everything out into a single post for anyone looking for this instead of having to sift through 13 pages of replies to find out what it meant.

And Moonkis , thanks for standing up for me, that would have meant a lot if I was the first person to figure it out, lol.

Feel free to correct me if you should find me writing hogwash.

No, I'm not a mod, my smartassing and huge post count is pure coincidence!
