Had the same problem - turns out, shower pops out several contaminated water "units" (I think it's full pipe capacity and in case of shower it's 3 or even 4 units). When shower can't output anymore - dupes just interrupt showering process, without any notification. Just make sure you have a few free pipes before merging shower into main sewage line.
