General

  • Added OSX support.

  • Fog patches can now be found at sea during the first 2 segments of day.

  • Sea versions of shadow monsters appear when on a boat and low on sanity.

  • Silly Monkey Ball - Distract those stupid Prime Apes.
  • Snakeskin Sail - Catch a breeze with this fancy new sail.

Changes 

World

  • Volcanic rock strike damage reduced significantly
  • Volcanic eruption durations reduced, intensity increased
  • Volcanic rock strikes damage the player while in a boat
  • Increased time between volcanic rock warning shadow appearing and impact
  • Slot machine tweaks to prizes
  • Slot machine now has insanity aura
  • Resurrection stone now features wildbore heads on stakes
  • Reduced log drops from mangrove trees
  • Krissures now deal damage to enemies
  • The ocean is now calmer during dry season
  • More art/boost directions have been added to waves and rogue waves
  • Waves now collide with shore, mangrove trees

Creatures

  • Swordfish damage increased
  • Tweaked loot provided by Whales
  • Whales now turn around at shallow water biome
  • Sharx drop hounds teeth
  • Prime Apes no longer try to pick up backpacks
  • Prime Apes will not trigger the Volcano Staff trap
  • Added a refuse animation to Prime Apes
  • Palm Treeguards wander when they do not have a combat target

  • Boat lantern degrades slower
  • Trawl net is gated by science machine
  • Boat torch is gated behind science machine
  • Hail is no longer edible, but can be refined into ice
  • Items on fire extinguish when they hit water
  • Boats start dealing wetness when heavily damaged
  • Rafts deal more wetness when breaking waves
  • Poisoned enemies no longer spread poison on attack
  • Poisoned enemies now move slower, attack less often, and deal less damage
  • Dogfish no longer play their floating anim when coming from slot machines
  • Replaced live jellyfish with dead ones from slot machine
  • Sand can now be refined into into empty bottles
  • Adjusted art of the poisoned spear

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed numerous crashes and other issues.

 

Bug Fixes & Changes for patch 160936:

  • Fixed a crash where Prime Apes would try to pick up invalid items.
  • Fixed a couple crashes related to Waxwell's shadow summons.
  • Fixed a crash related to disabling components at the wrong time.

 

Bug Fixes & Changes for patch 161026:

  • Fixed a crash related to shadow hand spawning.
  • Fixed a crash in SGPrimeape.lua
  • Fixed a crash when using certain items with a controller.
  • Woodie can no longer be poisoned while in werebeaver mode.
  • Changed some speech lines for Walani and Wigfrid.

What about sandbags? As far as I have read the sandbags are very unpopular on how they work.

 

For instance it is not really intuitive to put them directly on puddle spawners or sandbags sometimes don't prevent flooding.

 

Or puddles themselves spawning right under your base structures...

 

 

Are there any plans to changes this or does it work as intended?

Rip strat to reduce wetness. Granted it was pretty silly.

 

Renamed Ox to Water Beefalo

 

Damn now I have a reason to hate Ox as well as Beefalo. So I assume Overpopulation will still be an issue in this build? It was never really patched (Just made the process of Overpopulation slower).

 

Snakeskin Sail - Catch a breeze with this fancy new sail.
 

 

FINALLY A USE FOR THAT SPARE SNAKESKIN! Had 2 spare stacks of that stuff after a year. Maybe a Snakeskin Carpet next? One can dream at least.

This is a really nitpicky thing, but I think that Walani's description is too specific: "loves surfing on her custom surfboard." The character descriptions are always very vague, so I think having it say "loves to surf" or "has a surfboard" is more fitting. The other two quotes are good though.

An Hawaiian character; interesting design choice.

 

So canonically we have a German (Wilson), a Briton? (Willow), a Russian? (Wolfgang), an American? (Wendy), a Dutch (Wickerbottom), a Frenchman (Wes), another Briton (Maxwell) and a Canadian (Woodie) and unknown (WX-78, Webber & Wigfrid)

 

How did they all end up in Don't Starvia?!

I think this update broke Koalefant behavior in the regular game/RoG? The Koalefants in my pens are no longer running away from me as I approach them.

 

Of course, while I'd like to think that my constant love and affection is finally being reciprocated...I think it's maybe more likely that they are simply not working as intended.

 

Edit: Also, I don't have Shipwrecked, yet I did receive an update earlier today. So perhaps this is unrelated to that.

The flood and sandbag mechanics are something that we'd like to tweak going forward but didn't have a chance to get into this update.
