Deerclops/Bearger Almost Impossible To Kill (For Me)

Recommended Posts

If you are playing together with friends or others, just get log suit, spear / ham bat, all go together to Deerclop, hit her move away then hi her 3 times then move away, then 3 times then move away till she is dead.

If it's Singleplayer, do the same thing 2/3 hits move away, 2/3 hits move away till it's dead.

When you start hearing deerclop (pay attention to your speakers) just move away from the base. She will spawn afterwhile near the place where you are :)

Best Regards,

Thanks! Same thing for bearger? Also was just wondering, how long does it take for the ham bat to rot, I've never used it before.

You should legit be an Invis Inc forum mod.

You know, I would really want to be a Mod for the Modding forum to transfer old posts there and stuff. I could also pin the Master Modlist :ninjaemoticonwhichdoesnotexist: :Deckerdrinking: :itsashamewedonothaveanyInvisibleEmoticons:

On my 3rd try fighting a deerclops by myself I didn't get hit at all.  I'd suggest killing tentacles for the tentacle spikes for extra damage.  I try to kill the deerclops near a campfire for the light. In case I do get hit, I have either a log suit and a shanter or winter hat on to stay warm or a vest and a football helmet on.  I'd suggest when you hear the deerclops roaring, make sure you get your thermal stone to orange and your hunger to full because it does take awhile to kill a giant.  All you have to do is hit the deerclops twice, then run the opposite direction until the ice comes, then run back to hit him twice again, repeat until it's dead.   That easy.  Bearger is different though, I've never gotten far enough in the game for one to spawn on my own.  There are videos out there for these types of things.

Thanks for the help many a bases were destroyed from him. :p Bearger I never see kited by people though, what I usually do is feed him 10 honey and then run away. Most people, though, use an old bell to kill the bearger but I can't find out where to make that. Deerclops is the most common giant or thing that kills me though. 2/3 of my deaths were by him. He's generally not even the problem, but there always ends up being things like butthurt beefalo or wolves attack or raining frogs.

You definitely can kill them.

Without expensive stuff, you will need to kite. Can´t remember how many hits for each giant you can give, before dodging.

Also make a log suit, helmet and make sure to have extra spears. Also, fights with giants will take about 2 days, so you will need to be prepared for night, so have torches and resources for a fire pit. Also, make sure to have food on you, dried meat is great as it takes a long time to rot and heals you up nicely.

Rather than engage in combat directly, many times I try to leverage the natural hostility of the Don't Starve world. Ironically, your most important preparation for base defense should include tree guardians, spawned by you, by chopping down trees 5 at a time or more without planting any pine cones in between. When they spawn, run a few screens away from your base and pacify the tree guardian by planting pine cones near him.

When you hear Deerclops sounds, run away from your base so that he doesn't spawn near it. When he finally spawns, provoke him by poking him with a pointy stick or hitting him with a boomerage or blowdart, and then run through your tree guardian area. Lead Deerclops into some of the trees you planted. He smashes right through them, making the previously pacified tree guardians aggro on him. They're slower than him, so you'll have to lead him around in a circle a bit to get these titans engaged in an epic battle. Deerclops can often take out 2 or 3 tree guardians on his own, but he will be weakened by the battle and you can finish him off by yourself.

If you didn't prepare well enough and don't have guardians ready to go, you can always find a densely packed pine forest and lead Deerclops through it. It will take quite a few trees before you get a guardian to spawn, but it works in a pinch. Your biggest problem will be freezing while running away. It's very important to have a warm hat, and a reserve of several healing salves if possible. You should have at least 5 healing salves by the time winter arrives, which can allow you to run away while freezing a couple minutes extra. Sometimes I have as many as 20 stocked up by the first winter! Never leave home without it :-)

actually, replanting is even better for Treeguard spawning, which increases the number of trees over time. They don't care about how much you like nature, just how many trees you kill.

I suggest either doing the fighting with tentacle spike and kiting like people describe. OR (without being expensive) I like to run the giants to the swamp and make them fight all the merm and tentacles there. Use a boomerang to grab range aggro..then kite them to swap. Make sure to bring a source of light because you will likely have to fight through the night, but let the tentacles and swamp do the damage/wittle them down for you to finish.

If you want a "medium" expensive way of dispatching giants, I suggest a field of tooth traps OR gunpowder. Gunpowder doesn't take that much to farm. The worst part is the eggs, but the nitre and charcoal are everywhere. The eggs...if you rush it during autumn. You can easily stay alive, progress your base some, and build a bird cage and trap a bird in there. If you feed the bird monster meat it will poop eggs out and you can let them rot away to produce your rotten eggs for your last ingredient.

1) First year, I like to plant some 40~80 trees before winter, and lure the giants to walk over the trees. The treeguards that spawn will take care the giant and I get the logs.

Then before summer begin, I'll plant another 200+ trees and do the same except this time I want Bearger to cut down the trees by smashing the ground.

Doing it this way you need to watch out for forest fire. Which means you have to plant the trees somewhere that aren't gona have too much traffic during spring and summer, bring an ice staff / water balloon with and be quick putting out any fire.

Deerclops can usually cut down 80 trees before enough treeguards spawn and kill it, while bearger can take down all 200+ trees depending how 'unlucky' you are in getting treeguard spawn.

2). Another way to kill Bearger is to lure it to a reed field trap. The bearger will kill all the tentacles, eat as many monster meats as he can and die to food poisoning.

3) Lure the giant to the dragonfly and then logout can make the 2 giant fight each other. Login and run away while they are still fighting each other. With a logsuit, walking cane and a miner hat, you can get the loot at night while the dragonfly is asleep.

While you use Bearger as a Lumberjack make sure you don't play with hims in this way. You are going to cry :)

take wolfgang, get a freshly made hambat and 2 football helm. get 2 meaty stew at most.. Make your hunger 300 and facetank.. dont get scared and step back.16 secs..

for bearger this facetank does not work you gotta kite properly even as wolfgang.. above is for deerclops/

if you are not wolfgang you can use wicker to summon tentacles and lure the giant.. lure giant to swamp if you are too scared.

you can use explosion you can make them fight with other giants, tooth trap or bee field or ... or .... if none of the above and ur not wolfgang kite properly.
