Ability to turn off overheating in world settings.

Recommended Posts

There's been some discussion about overheating in summer. Most of it seems to be suggestions to make cooling easier. What I would suggest is ability to turn off overheating completely. And one should be able to make overheating (and freezing) happen less and more often also, the same way you can make for example treeguards to appear more or less often, or not at all.

Sometimes I like to play 'realistic' worlds in DS. I turn off monsters and such unrealistic things in world settings. I would like to turn off overheating too, because I think overheating like in DS is unrealistic. I bought ROG but I don't play it at all because of the overheating. I just don't like it. Freezing in the winter is cool though.

I hope Klei makes overheating optional.

PS. Someone could also make a mod that would remove overheating.

I don't know about that. Overheat in summer does seem a bit forced (I have to reverse engineer fire with rocks and put a watermelon on my head) but taking it out would be really weird, especially if things still caught fire. And if things didn't catch fire it would still be spring.

I agree that overheating feels forced. Things catching fire can be turned off in the world settings, so why not overheating too. I like the seasons. I'd like the summer to be a relaxed warm season with not so many worries about basic survival. During summers I'd go to adventures and prepare for winter. Also, In the world settings you can turn of complete seasons which makes a weird world, so overheating turned off wouldn't actually be that weird. It's my world, my rules, you know. I just wish I could sometimes make summers more realistic and relaxed by turning off overheating.

You make a ton of good points there. I didn't actually know that you could turn off fires, which is interesting. I don't think Klei would actually do this, so you should try to get a modder to make it.

Thank you. You might be right about Klei not doing this. Actually my plan B was to ask some modder to do this. So I’m off to the modding section now.

EDIT:

I got some kind of a mod from the modding subforum. It was a bit difficult.

I'm still not quite satisfied. The mod removes overheating, but sound and visual effects of overheating are still there. I really really hope that Klei gives us option to turn off overheating in a update to come.
