Some general suggestions

Recommended Posts

I come up with a lot of things daily, so here I am writing some of them down. I'll probably continue to build this list as things come up. I'm certain some of these have already been mentioned, but I feel the need to state them anyway.

Equipment:

There really needs to be a better spear. Same damage, just more durability would be fine. After all, we can make an Axe, Pickaxe, and Shovel better. Why not the spear?

I'm really a bit miffed at how I can wear a shirt, or a backpack. If I want to wear a backpack I need to go shirtless. Same with an amulet. Apparently I can't handle the weight of a helmet if I'd like to wear a necklace. Essentially what I'm saying, is that these slots need to be fixed for logical reasons.

Bucket-O-Poop, I really like the idea behind this item. Yet, the bones in the cost makes it a bit of a loser. I suggest allowing for the bucket to be refilled using fertilizers.

Make the range of the lightning rod visible (like flingos).

Ice Flingomatics should not need to be refilled every three days. This makes for a very boring Summer. Granted, I am aware that summer is supposed to be hard, but once you've figured out how to survive it (much like Winter from the vanilla version) it's not much of a challenge. It's just tedious more than anything, and can make those 15 days incredibly monotonous.

More storage options. If my character can build a Science Machine, Alchemy Engine, Prestihatitator, Ice Flingomatic, Ice Box, Magic Staves and other things, I'd be willing to bet my character could also figure out how to craft a bigger chest.

Autumn and Spring should get their own hounds with respective gem drops, green and orange. Yes, I'm aware that these gems are "rare", so my suggestion is to make it very rare for the hounds to drop these gems.

Add the other toys to the tumbleweeds. I'd love some robots and rockets in addition to gnomes.

That's what I could remember for now. Thanks for reading.

There is a better spear you can craft it's called the hambat. the darksword, the thulecite club.

I would like to say this make the gamer harder but i'm pretty sure someone else knows a better answer unless this is the answer.

That is a great idea i'd love for this to be in don't starve.

Also a great fine idea that I would like to have in don't starve (together).

Yeah there is one it's called the scaled chest. <:

You can find these colored gems in tumbleweeds but I did wish they made certain hounds drop them. :c

Thanks for the response Giddy. Remember, these are suggestions, and with the exception of the first two, weapon usage, and ability to wear armor/backpack, helmet/amulet, none of them make the game any easier.

The first suggestion was made because it gets really old having to carry around two weapons or craft an additional weapon before fighting ANY boss. I guess an additional fix to this would be automatic re-equipping a weapon already in the inventory, instead of having the weapon break and going straight to fists. Granted, they would need to program the game to recognize the difference between a weapon breaking and a weapon being knocked out of the characters hand.

The second suggestion does give a game play advantage. Yet, it is also extremely logical. To be honest though, it's really more a matter of annoyance than anything. At this point in time in the game I really do not feel it provides anything but a bit more freedom within the game rather than protection.

The hambat has infinite uses so really you don't need to carry two hambats. :3

Just for your information there is a mod for this if you want this in the game badly just saying not dismissing the suggestion. Also life giving amulets would be really op if you could wear them all the time.

I personally find it very thrilling when you have to make a spear on-the-go in order to continue fighting. However, we sure need long-lasting armour. One pretty much instantly loses their helmet and log suit when fighting the dragon fly in any way.

Well, there's mods for that. I personally can see the balancing reasons behind this though.

Bucket-O-Poop, I really like the idea behind this item. Yet, the bones in the cost makes it a bit of a loser. I suggest allowing for the bucket to be refilled using fertilizers.

So what will you use bone shards for then? I only make the bucket of poop to get rid of bones, I always have plenty of manure to survive.

Lightning rods have a range of 10 ground turfs. That's easily bigger than big screens, and several times smaller screens.

Ice Flingomatics should not need to be refilled every three days. This makes for a very boring Summer. Granted, I am aware that summer is supposed to be hard, but once you've figured out how to survive it (much like Winter from the vanilla version) it's not much of a challenge. I don't see a problem with that, why would you be out for longer than three days and come back without any rot or fuel, other than having screwed up to begin with? I personally find myself territorial in summer mostly because I can't afford the stone to build endothermic firepits all over the map, nor the nitre to keep making campfires in the long run.

Klei had shelves of some sort planned. They scratched that idea for some reason. I once made a mod for that kind of stuff, but it's difficult to make interesting furniture without being an artist.

Autumn and Spring should get their own hounds with respective gem drops, green and orange. Yes, I'm aware that these gems are "rare", so my suggestion is to make it very rare for the hounds to drop these gems.

I wouldn't mind that, but how would those special hounds be threatening? (btw, there's a mod that adds yellow hounds, I can't recall the name though)

Add the other toys to the tumbleweeds. I'd love some robots and rockets in addition to gnomes.

What they're not all avaliable? I got lots of knots and plugs, some marbles, gnomes and a bunch of wire before.

At least with armor it replaces itself when broken. Somehow the character can put on a new suit of armor when one breaks, but is incapable of doing the same when their weapon breaks. It's just a consistency/logic issue for me. I'm not asking for a super powered weapon. I'm asking for a basic spear which has a "gold" upgrade and lasts a little bit longer. As far as weapons are concerned, there are far better weapons. Adding this is just a consistency issue for me.

Well, there's mods for that. I personally can see the balancing reasons behind this though.

Again, for me, this is one of those logical things that should be added to the game because it doesn't make any sense. We can make a sword out of Nightmare Fuel and Living Logs, but we can't wear a shirt under our backpack or a necklace with a helmet. That's really all I'm trying to say.

So what will you use bone shards for then? I only make the bucket of poop to get rid of bones, I always have plenty of manure to survive.

There's definitely a bit of truth to this statement. At the same time they could come up with more items which require bones. Honestly, bones to make a bucket is a bit odd to begin with.

I can spend whole seasons in the Caves. How are you not bored spending an entire season doing nearly nothing? I often find myself farming for things I really don't need because there are so few options due to overheating. Your response basically sums up what the problem with Summer is, and why I made this suggestion. Summer is basically the most repetitive 2 hours of the game, it's not exciting, fun, or even challenging once you have your Dragonfly and Hound protection set up. At this point I Siesta/Tent nearly the entire summer since skipping it is far better than doing nothing.

Klei had shelves of some sort planned. They scratched that idea for some reason. I once made a mod for that kind of stuff, but it's difficult to make interesting furniture without being an artist.

I commend you on your efforts, and completely understand where you're coming from artistically. I do wish there were more "decorative" items in the game as well as functional.

I wouldn't mind that, but how would those special hounds be threatening? (btw, there's a mod that adds yellow hounds, I can't recall the name though)

As a quick thought to this, Spring/Green could have some poison over time damage application. Autumn could also apply a loss of hunger statistic when bitten. Honestly though, who really takes damage from hounds anymore?

What they're not all avaliable? I got lots of knots and plugs, some marbles, gnomes and a bunch of wire before.

Nope...and I'm a bit skeptical you ever got marbles from the tumbleweeds. Knots, Plugs, Wires and Gnomes are all that ever come, and with the exception of the Gnomes, everything else is boring. I want Rockets and Robots!!!

Thanks for the reply. Good luck surviving.

About your armor/backpack idea being more logical, I would have to say became full what you wish for because another thing logical would be that we couldn't hold forests worth of trees, mountains worth of stone, walls and the very ground, meaning we would have about 1 inventory slot and be able to hold 1 piece of wood because logical, the logs being the size of your body, we could only carry that much. Don't Starve is logical in some ways and not in others. About you wanting robots so badly, just dig up a grave. Some of your other points do sound okay though.
