New Bosses & Mobs

Recommended Posts

What new monsters should they put into Don't Starve?  I think that Klei Entertainment should put in a Shadow-Monster Boss possibly with multiple hands, since there are so often shadow hands.  Or maybe a windigo, a monster found in many tales with various appearances according to different people.

Well, i think that Klei should add more mobs than monsters; I mean, the over world is missing so many animals (e.g. crickets, snakes, porcupines and MANY others) that could make the game a bit more interesting. There are the desertic biomes (savanna and desert) which in my opinion should have at least a new mob each; how cool would it be to have snakes wondering around the desert or crickets eating the loads of grass that are found in Savanna ?!?!

Fun and more challenging !

I agree with @Lampofulmine, specially when I saw concept art about creatures like deers and bears, lots of forest, savanna, field, swamp and wastelands animals that can be added

More neutral or natural animals could give more life to the game

I've seen many people talking about natural disasters and so on to make the game more challenging... I don't agree with that BUT what if there were crickets that in summer/spring at some point will start to go over your farms and eat all the veggies ?!

Some tome ago I started to some art for the cricket but nobody was willing to help for that mod.

That's a pretty nice idea, so they're a bit like locust?  Maybe if you ate from gardens infested with them you could like lose a lof of health from sickness, or start going insane, or they could just destroy your crops. Sorry about nobody helping you with your mod, the art must've been pretty cool though.

I was going to start a(nother) thread with some ideas for more clockworks but this seems good.

Clockwork Pawn

Small, slow, few hitpoints, little damage. Will try to run away when you approach but it's easy to catch up to it.

If it manages to eat a pile of gears (for instance, those dropped by other clockworks) it'll transform into a different Clockwork.

Clockwork Queen

Not as easily roused as the other pieces, but once roused it will follow the player relentlessly.

Faster than the player, has a strong melee attack (thankfully, the queen stops in her tracks for a while after each attack) and a fair whack of hitpoints.

Clockwork King

Boss-type monster. A huge tree-guard sized head resembling the "Suicide King" version of the King of Hearts (Appearing to have a sword stabbed into it's head.)

Hops around very slowly, dealing crushing damage with each footfall, but generates new clockworks like a Spider Queen does for spiders. Also attacks by drawing and slashing with it's sword.

Clockwork Checkers Piece

It's a circle!

Rolls around quickly but in erratic patterns. Deals melee damage. Not particularly strong but travels in packs.

Two hits will knock it over, requiring it to spin itself back up onto it's edge.

Chess Clockworks hate them and will attack them in preference to other monsters and the player.

If I may give my opinion, I think it would be better to add to the game more REAL mobs instead of magic stuff (e.g. clockwork pieces).

Yes, the idea is that is would have worked like a locust (was called locust in fact); i thought it could be dangerous for crops and grass, and it could drop his own loot (similar to frog legs, maybe locust legs). It seems a copy and paste of frogs but it easy to do mod-wise and wouldn't require much of an effort ! (and it will be cooooool !)

Like Jackalopes, fanged frogs, semi-intelligent pigs, fish and rabbits and goats that can lactate ionised milk?

I'd be interested in having crickets if only so I could make a cricket leg and a bat wing to make a cricket bat weapon.

For general mobs, what about some kind of big hunting cat for the Savanna? Perhaps a crossbreed like a Liger or Tigon but more odd like a Tabby/Jaguar (Tabuar) Lynx/Sphynx (Slynx) or perhaps a two-faced Janus Leopard or something like the five legged lion-head form of Buer.

Maxwell is the king, though.

I'm probably going to risk a highly justified punch in the butt for this but- What about Timberwolves?

Randomly appear as part of a hound attack if the player is in the evergreen forest biome. Slightly tougher than a regular hound (4 tentacle whacks instead of three) but drops living wood instead of gemstones and twigs and logs instead of meat and fangs.

It'd be awesome if you could collect a whole bunch of items to create a mob, kind of like Frankenstein's creation.  Like frog-legs, cricket-legs, monster mat, bat wings, and you could get a merm or pig head from the poles to create a follower.

Hah, finally someone who agrees on the superiority of the Wendigo (or Windigo. Windigo is also correct)

I can imagine something like these guys walking around in don't starve: http://tearaway.wikia.com/wiki/Wendigo

There's also a baby, http://tearaway.wikia.com/wiki/Baby_Wendigo, which could work like the beefalo. Maybe there'd be herds, while the big wendigo could be considered a small giant, which could make for some interesting loot.

Otherwise, the wendigo as supposedly described in "Pet Sematary" would be pretty terrifying, although you would hardly see more of it then you can see of Bigfoot.
