I call them the Oldschool Rogues.Archived Decker (RIP Deckard) and On File Shalem! The programs they use are Faust and Parasite. This is because these two guys don't care all that much about that hacking mumbo jumbo, they'd rather kill who's standing in their way. They have to wait untill their dusty program grinds through the firewalls, and although they have found a way to generate huge amounts of power, it backfires from time to time. But that's nothing their trusty guns can't handle of course! Decker can sneak past the guards, and while they might get a glimpse of him, he's long gone when they arrive. shalem will do his best to stay out of sight, but when things get rough, heads will roll. This way you get can get lots of daemons (faust and Monst3r's overclocked neutral dart) and without central you can't get free pwr on a daemon install. (and if you end up getting blowfish from monst3r or faust then rapier's cost goes up (alarm lvl) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Spider1011 Posted May 28, 2015 Share Posted May 28, 2015 decker and shalem is too much killing power for my tastes. although i guess challenges are there to get you out of your comfort zone. I'm still busy beating Expert+ though. but I have been thinking about which combination would be the hardest to start with. here's what I came up with: Nika and Archived Banks with Seed and Brimstone. You get one free level of firewall each turn after which hacking becomes extremly costly. You only start with 5 PWR on Expert+. You have no skilled hacker to use consoles. the only disruptor you have is Nika's volt disruptor which drains more of your limited PWR reserves. you have Banks dart gun as backup but it only has 2 shots. using her Eccon Chip will mean even less power. you don't start with any amor penetration so you have to take care of take sooner or later. the only saving grace is Banks level 2 anarchy which allows you to steal from guards. I mainly brought up Expert+ because of the limited starting PWR (also fun with Fusion). it's not like I'm giving out prizes. Spider1011 Posted June 9, 2015 Share Posted June 9, 2015 so I tried out my own suggested combination on Ironman Expert + and as expected the early game was extremly flimsy. Arch Banks neural dart can salvage some situations but the level generation RNG can really make things difficult early. failed 3 times at first but mostly due to my own greed. I managed to get another run into day 2 when a series of small mistakes led to Arch Banks getting shot in an unrecoverable situation so I retired. my current run is in day 1 mission away from the Omni Mainframe. with Shalem + biogenic dart, Nika with N. Disrupter 3 + Pen. Scanner and Arch Banks with a shock trap 3 among other things I should have this one in the bag. oberservations so far:- being forced to avoid stunning guards as much as possible is quite interesting. it forces you to manipulate guards and gives you the oportunity to learn some new tactis. but it can be frustrating it goes wrong since you don't have a fallback.- as usual seed gets really strong once you pick up some programs. in my last case this was LP2.0, Oracle and Wisp. starting with power drip might actually make things more difficult in the long run since seed will allow you to use the banks econ just quite liberally- oh boy did I ever underestimate the power of banks econ chip. I also got miroSLAM from monster on the first day. I walked into a Nanofab on day 3 and came out with +3,6k net value. I guess microSLAM, anarchy 5, hacking 5 and the econ chip can do that for you I'll try the team combination of the OP next but I won't have much playtime until the coming weekend.
