Paid mods on Steam

So, if you've payed attention on the steam store main page you've seen that mod creators on the Skyrim mods section(and I dunno if any more) can now make their mods be paid, so in other words, if you want it you have to buy it. What's your honest opinion on this subject?

Good intentions, horribly implemented, like ridiculously horribly implemented imo. (also SkyUI which thousands of mods need to run will be paid for soon, so now mod pirating is a thing).

Would've just been better to have a donate button instead of hiding content behind another paywall.

What no I think it is a perfect system why would anyone think it's wrong?

*$50.00 bill starts falling out of coat pocket*

Ignore that.

The hilarious part about this statement is the fact that modders can't cash out until they reach a $100.00 minimum.

I'll take your word for it since i haven't researched it. The intention behind it is great. People want everything for free, especially if it's online, so there's going to be a ton of backlash no matter how it's implemented.

Also, a donate button sounds nice too, but if youtube is any indication, it's never used. Perhaps if it were a bit more in depth than a simple donate button -- sorta like Patreon.

That's fairly standard. It's the same with YouTube/Adsense (unless you get partnered).

Locking MODS behind a paywall is absolutely horrible especially for a game like skyrim ,where most of the experience comes from modding. Now mods like wet and cold and iNeed are paid updates. not to mention skyUI is gonna cost money, and skyUI is every good skyrim mod's backbone. also many paid mods are just shitty sword retextures or incomplete armor mods.

i really hope valve realised how retarded this is and that theyre gonna cancel the whole thing soon. mods should always be free.
