mellojoe
Is it just me, or does Webber not look right. Like, all the characters have this unified feel to them. Comparing all the characters, Webber stands out. No, not because he is a human inside a spider, but because it just looks like a bad artists rendition of what the Webber character should look like. It just doesn't feel as polished a skin as the rest of the characters. The spiders themselves look great and feel correct. But, Webber just doesn't feel right to me. Its like a pencil drawing with weird leg things sticking out of his face. I really don't get the feeling looking at him that its supposed to be a child inside a spider. I just get a child's drawing of a spider/man hybrid. All of the game feels so polished art-wise. Webber stands out because of how good the rest of the game looks and feels. Everything from the smallest details like poop flies and bee animations to the big things like Dragonfly and Deerclops and all the characters have such great lines about them. The art direction is one of the things that absolutely makes Don't Starve feel great and wonderful and unique. And then there's Webber. He feels like a fan-mod more than a core character. His playstyle and background details seem fine. His quotes and mechanics seem fine. But the art just feels half-arsed compared to the rest of the game. I would love to see a few artistic tweaks to bring him up on par with the rest of the amazing DS world. Am I the only one?

Tamazacat
Actually, I can kind of see what you mean. Personally, I tried playing him once and just couldn't hack it because of his voice. It just goes right through me! Same story with the actressy, carnivorous viking woman (it's 2 am and I'm tired so I can't remember her name). For a short time I did play him and your picture does highlight the slightly underpolished look. Thinking about it, it could quite feasibly be down to his colour. Black drawings can be difficult to add detail to whilst maintaining quality and staying true to the art style. It's not like Klei to deliberately half-ass their work (thanks so much for being so great, Klei), so that's what I always put it down to, anyway. Hypno
To be honest I don't think that klei could have added anything else to Webber~Personally I love Webber~ His voice matches so perfectly with the evilness that the spider emits! Truly shows the domination of the spider over the kid. The artwork different yet simple and charming blending with everything in the game. Also, Wigfrid is acting as a Valkyrie (I didn't know she is an actress) I found out when I gave that spear a closer look. It looks like a Brush and Wigfrid doesn't really look like a real one but you never know anyway.
fuchsiang
Like what Tamazacat said, it mostly wears down to his color. For me, atleast. Since most of his design is completely black with the 'sketchy' aesthetic added to it (etc, Wilson's hair, Willow's hair, Wes' hair) makes it very lackluster. Without much definition, you can't add much detail to Webber, making him look like a sketchy blob of nothingness. His lineart and general design fits pretty well in the Don't Starve art style, it's just his color.
toasterman3000
I don't really understand what you mean. Is it because he's just a spider with a body? Can you give an example of something that you think would improve him?
Lonestarr01
He looks like a spider that's eaten a human whole, and the human acts as the arms and the legs, while the head is the spider itself. It's pretty gross when you think about it... But I really like the look of Webber At least skins are being released for DST, so you'll be able to play Webber without looking like it
Sporb
Yeah... I really don't like Webber's appearance very much. Which is kinda weird, because I like the spiders in this game and I tend to like monster-ish characters. The first time I saw art for Webber I was like, what an uninspired fan character. They just stuck a spider on top of a human torso and called it done. They didn't even bother to remove the legs from the spider or put them in a place that makes more sense. I was pretty surprised when I learned that Webber was going to be an actual character, but I'm sorry to say that nothing I've seen since has served to alter that negative first impression. Mobbstar
Webber would probably look better if customized player models were possible. Since that's not the case, it's about as good as it can be.
TheTraditionalGentleman
Personally, I think Webber looks pretty good. I think his voice is spot on. I know what you mean about him looking different than the other characters, but couldn't that be due to most of them being humans with clothes and he's a spider (for all intents and purposes)? I think the main reason I like him is due to his voice and how different his play style is.
