Woodie Costume

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I've got a quick question! I'm looking to put together a Woodie costume for something (maybe something I can share with all of you!), but I could use some help finding the best stuff for the costume.

Not that I'm implying all us Canadians have one, but I already own a nice, shiny red axe and a good stury set of suspendors. What's tripping me up is Woodie's boots and shirt - could any of you suggest something for those? The boots really throw me off, and is Woodie wearing gloves? The shirt I'm haivng some trouble with because I'm colour blind.

Other than that, I'm getting things together nicely. I don't have to worry about the hair and beard because I live in Northern Ontario and gosh darnit it, it's cold out there, so they're sort of a neccessity.

Thanks everyone!

Woodie's boots look like normal winter boots to me, probably a bit valenki-ish (or a Canadian equivalent of thereof) in shape.

Also, he does wear gloves (you can see them a bit better in "Strange New Powers" trailer). They're likely made from some sort of thick fabric, to protect him from cuts, splinters, or calluses from the axe.

Yes, most people wear that kind of gloves while handling logs, usually their made of kevlar and covered in rubber knobs for additional grip.

The boots are non-descriptive winter boots of the same colour. EDIT: That colour is ivory, to be exact.

P.S.: Doctor, is there a chance I know you from YouTube for no particular reason?

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Captain - red plaid it is! I actually already have a red flannel shirt (I swear! Not all Canadians are like Woodie!) so it's a good day for me and my wardrobe.

Zhuza - thanks for claifying about the gloves. Also, thank you for making me Google "valenki." Those boots look super comfortable.

Mobbstar - I'm thinking of using a tan work boots and gloves sort of like these:

Do you think they would work?

I know I won't be able to get everything spot on, but I'd like for the getup to be as "Woodie"-like as possible. :)

Also, Mobbstar, there is a chance you might know me from YouTube. If I can get this Woodie setup going, you will for sure in a month or so! :D
