averagewalrus Posted January 31, 2015 Share Posted January 31, 2015 First off sorry I don't have any pictures of the base we had, anyways so my friend(Shawn) and I were at near our base chopping wood, collecting twigs, trying to fight a level 3 spider den. I went off to the spider den with a log suit and spear as Wolfgang(One of my favorates) while Shawn was chopping wood, the spiders came out of their den and "swarmed" me within a few seconds my log suit was gone.(I did not die) I managed to get away from the spiders with a large fraction of my health missing, with 14 days untill winter (We had it on long summer) I decided to ask Shawn what we needed done within the next 14 days the next day I went to chop wood, after finishing my first tree Shawn said "More wolves." As soon as he said that Wolfgang said "I hear puppies!" and the wolves came. (Which alot more come than neccesary this was only our third time with wolves and 15+ wolves with 2 being fire wolves came!) To remind you I had just lost my log suit so the first thing I tried was to bring the wolves to our pig men. (which I had forgotten that Shawn and I had killed all of them to make bacon and eggs) After realizing that I had goofed up a message showed up at the top of the screen "Shawne37 has been killed by hound." (Something along those lines) I decided to run and try to give him a heart but with Shawn being killed all 15+ wolves were now after me I ran to a Savahana(Not sure how to spell it, it's were beefalo spawn) to try to get the wolves to stop chasing me on they way or have the wolves get distracted from beefalo. I finally made it to the Savahana by dusk after having meateors falling on my head, then I saw another message appear at the top of the screen "Shawne37 has been resurected by touch stone." This made me happy knowing that if I died I wouldn't ruin everything. Soon after Wolfgang transformed into his "wimpy" form when this happens he stops, so the wolves killed me. I made it back to base in one day (12 days untill winter) and Shawn saved me with a heart we attempted to use our base which had been burnt (Fire wolves) and Shawn had lost alot of meat based food items to the wolves when he died. We lasted untill day 40 (10 days untill winter) when we had ran out of food due to the wolves burning our bushes and eating Shawn's food off of his dead body Shawn had decided to try to get honey from our bee box (Which in all the comotion we had forgetten we had) the bees killed Shawn due to his low health from eating monster meat for 2 days and from him having no protection from the bees, I went to make him a heart I had also been eating monster meat (lots of it) so when I made the heart I died and the world was over... Zillvr Posted February 1, 2015 Share Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks for sharing your story, fire hounds are the worst if you aren't prepared for it. Best to keep making tooth traps near camp if all other means of disposing of the hounds aren't available or are too far away from camp. (i.e. Pigs, Beefalos, Treeguards, Bees, etc.) Anyways if you want some tips for your future adventures with Shawn, open the spoiler. You can make Bacon and Eggs cheaply with the following recipe, without actually needing Pig Meat:1 Morsel + 1 Monster Meat + 2 Egg = Bacon and EggsTo get eggs, you can feed a caged bird any type of meat, preferably cooked monster meat since that's usually the surplus meat item you can get. (Just stating this is case someone else stumbles upon this post that didn't know about it.)If you're carry any type of food(meals/meats/seeds/vegetables/fruits/etc), they are best kept in your bag so on the off-chance that you die all the food are safely kept in the bag without being eaten by creatures. Shawne37 Posted February 9, 2015 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Not everything in Don't Starve Together has double health, some things do, some things don't, but hounds don't have that trait.
