Dorkiplier
I just purchased Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together with a bonus copy to gift to a friend, his copy runs Mods no problem but my screen hangs up when I go to the mod screen ...it keeps playing music and says checking for steam subscriptions but never does anything ...same goes for the solo copy of the game ... please help
Developer PeterA Posted January 20, 2015 Developer Share Posted January 20, 2015 @Dorkiplier, are you playing the games in Steam's offline mode?
Dorkiplier
@PeterA no I am not ..I thought that was the problem and so I went offline and went back to online and restarted it and it didn't help. Also tried reinstalling both games and the Steam client ..didn't help either :/
outseeker
Totally kill your firewall(s) and check it; seen reports of dodge firewalls blocking Steam/DST communications, in some cases right up until the whole firewall is uninstalled apparently. If you're seeing the game try to check steam mod subscriptions, I think the game itself is likely working. You could attach your log.txt from My Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether after you have tried the mods menu- it may help diagnose the problem
Developer PeterA Posted January 26, 2015 Developer Share Posted January 26, 2015 @Dorkiplier, yeah, I suggest trying what @outseeker said, trying without your firewall and posting your log.txt.
Dorkiplier
I tried entering the mod screen in game after turning off my firewall, but it still didn't help and I'm having the issue with both copies of the game but here is the log.txt file from Don't Starve Together log.txt
Developer PeterA Posted January 27, 2015 Developer Share Posted January 27, 2015 @Dorkiplier, according to your log file you're attempting to request your list of subscribed mods from Steam, but never getting a response back. Can you try accessing Workshop content from another game? It looks like your Steam account has access to Anarchy Arcade, which I believe have Workshop support.Another thing we could try is if your friend's account works to access the Workshop on your machine, or if your account works to access the Workshop on his machine.I also noticed that this log file is from a build from 2 weeks ago. We've pushed a few patches since then, so you may want to verify that your build is the latest by right clicking on Don't Starve Together Beta in the library, going to Properties, and then on Local Files tab, clicking on Verify Integrity of Game Cache. You should have a current content BuildID of 500042.
Dorkiplier
The workshop content for Anarchy Arcade works fine and the current content build for Don't Starve Together is 505638. I verified it for both games but still locks up on the mod screen, if you can't think of any other way.. I can contact my friend and see if we can do what you recommended
Developer PeterA Posted January 28, 2015 Developer Share Posted January 28, 2015 @Dorkiplier, it would be worth checking to see if the Mods screen works in the original Don't Starve.
Dorkiplier
I have tried the original solo version and it has the same issue ..that's the one I was really concerned with getting the mods to work for :/
outseeker
hmm what firewall/av software do you have?
Dorkiplier
Just the standard windows firewall and Malwarebytes ...I tried turning all of it off and re downloading the game and re subscribing to get the mods on the steam workshop
