Indicate Linked Wormholes

Recommended Posts

Wormholes should have a little indicator on them as to which other wormhole they lead to. EG connected wormholes have a "1", "2", etc.  Ideally a player should have to travel through one before the marker appears, but after that, it shouldn't be such a pain to remember which leads where.

As Zillvr already mentioned, there IS a mod that does what you want. Just play on servers that have it if it's that big of a deal to you. I do not think putting wormhole markers in game by default should be a thing. In PVP servers, the wormholes and remembering which ones go where is a huge part of the base gameplay in those servers.

Also - that was always one of the things with them - Remembering which one goes where to lead you to where you need/want to go. No need to make it a joke across the board. Just play on servers that have the mod.

Remembering / writing down which wormhole goes where is an unnecessary annoyance, not a question of 'base gameplay.'  We already have a map that details every rock, bush, and tree the character has ever seen.  Do the characters have photographic memory, or are they just too lazy to mark which worm hole leads where?

You're giving a pretty biased example of what could be considered an annoyance.

Some could even argue that most everything in this game is an annoyance from collecting things like grass and twigs to chopping down trees because all of them take time and the player is just sitting there waiting for the action to be done (a reason a lot of people use the PickyPickyPicky mod - makes grass/berries/saplings pick instantly. It makes the game RIDICULOUSLY easy in my opinion. I don't like it personally).

Does that mean, however that mods that make the game easier such as the PickyPickyPicky mod should be implemented into the base game? Sorry but in the case of picking everything instantly - I think not. One of the things more experienced players begin to realize as they play is to set item gathering priorities - in that you don't just pick up EVERY grass and sapling you come across, because they all take time to gather. Once you have enough for what you need to do, you focus on your next priority. With a mod like this, that dilemma is completely eliminated - one that I think is core to Don't Starve.

So - who are you to speak for everyone and say what is and what isn't annoying? How do you know other people actually physically write down the wormhole connections? (I know I never have and I do just fine) Maybe other people just are able to remember by way of using natural (or somewhat man-made) landmarks?

"We already have details of every rock, bush, and tree the character has ever seen"

I'm.....um..... not really sure where you're going with that....? As from the looks of it, you're talking about them being explored/shown on the map but when you say "details" I'm not really sure what you're getting at. It literally just shows them on the map. It doesn't show grass tufts that have been harvested as opposed to not. It doesn't show berry bushes that have been picked as opposed to being unpicked. The same exact thing goes for the wormhole - it simply shows that it's there. The map gives no further details about each particular item on the map including the wormhole - and for good reason!

In my opinion as a pretty experienced player - map knowledge is probably the most precious resource there is in game. Knowing where all of the biomes are - where the beefalo herd, swamp, rabbit holes, rock quarries, etc are - knowing the areas where other players are or have been, knowing where the Mactusk camp(s) are for farming him in Winter.

There's a reason mods exist - to let each player  customize their own experience. There's no need to make the entire game easier because you find wormholes annoying to use. The base game is too easy already for me.
