The Forest, Rust, Sandbox Games Ahoy!

The Beta versions of Minecraft (dodges bullets for mentioning Minecraft on this forum) are quite fun for a more casual experience.  I'd recommend version Beta 1.7 for the best gameplay.  I'd also reccomend Terraria, which is more "fleshed out", if you will, with thousands of items, plenty of epic bosses, and an incredibly fun multiplayer.

On the other hand, if by "look by crap" you literally mean you want good graphics, I got nothin for ya.  Both games have unique art styles, but they're not exactly photoreal.

PS: AVOID STARBOUND AT ALL COSTS

Why is that? I had quite a bit of fun with Starbound.

Because it's beetaaaa and the devs pushed back the release date so often, they're literally.. the führer of the third reich, and and and it's so unfiniiished.

Don't avoid Starbound at all costs. I'm loving the new update, actually. It's an excellent game, but I won't say that in big red text cuz that's just silly :-)

I'd say avoid the Steam forums if we're talking about things rightfully avoid.

The Lone Dark looks neat but it's in Early Access.

I thought it was fun at first, but it just slowly got worse and worse.  All I was really doing was traveling from planet to planet, walking across the surface, mining whatever ore I came across, and then going to another one.  This would have been relatively okay if there was much change between planets, but they're mostly just purple grass or green grass.  Progression isn't fun, since it's the same thing for all ten tiers.  I never found it necessary to build, since I had a spaceship I could teleport to at any time and store all my gear.  I never mined either, since all minerals could be found at the surface.  I just eventually quite because it was simply boring.

Lone Dark does look cool, though.

That's the game in a nutshell.

Nine months ago though.

FarSky is pretty fun, and it's on sale on Steam right now for $4.50. The only thing is that it kinda lacks content, but it's an option nonetheless.

Have you ever heard of Don't Starve? It's a pretty cool rouge-like sandbox game. Although it's pretty tough for newbies, it also has a multiplayer mode coming out for reals soon. Might wanna try it out.

To thread: My dream is to have a legal copy of 7 Days To Die. I prefer that game as sandbox.

Gmod, you can make literal sandboxes and characters in suggestive poses

POSTAL 2 is great for some violent offensive fun

Pretty much all the GTA games.

Saints Row 1,2,3 and 4

And I really like Starbound, despite it's flaws, I just love the atmosphere so much. Plus the new update supposed to be coming really soon (atm it's in the unstable beta build)

Cube World is another one, but it's likely never going to get updated again... ever.... also it's not on steam... (I'll always love you Cube World)

Gmod is a sandbox.

Postal 2 isn't.

GTA isn't.

Saint's Row isn't.

Starbound is.

Cube World isn't.

Great job, he asked for a sandbox and only two out of six games you mention are sandboxes.

But I wanted to be clear, maybe you sincerely misinterpret the definition of sandboxes..

Well people commonly throw around that games like GTA and Saints Row are Sandbox games so I guess that's my definition of sandboxes.

Either way I think I overreacted a bit with the jerk part so sorry about that.

Gmod?

Short for Garry's Mod. The thing that all those stop motion TF2 videos are made with.

Most of those are actually made with SFM.
