andrepravetz
I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my Chromebook and was hoping to be able to play Don't Stave. However, once downloading the standalone file, I have no idea how to get the game running. I found only one topic related to this subject by searching the forums and the provided solution did not work for me. If there is a readme file I can't find it. Is there somebody who could walk me through the steps to installing and running Don't Starve on Ubuntu 12.04? I have the standalone version of the game but could I get it working using steam? Are there any drivers I need to download, etc. Any help would be appreciated I don't have a clue what I'm doing.

I'm not sure I understand your problem, though, I'm reading it as "Just downloaded the standalone version and am trying to get it working on linux". But it could be that you downloaded the standalone version, but want the steam version too? EDIT: perhaps this will helphttps://www.humblebundle.com/s?key=[your key here]pick linux, and install it like you would anything else. Alternatively download from steam using the same key, if that's what you're looking for
andrepravetz
I don't know what "like anything else" is on an Ubuntu system, and it isn't so simple as that apparently. There's an sh file and when I try running it, it does not work. There's an error something like: can't find file dont starve, and the dont starve file is exactly where it is supposed to be. I'll look up the error details when I get the chance I was just hoping someone might have more of a clue as to what I should do. I haven't tried the steam version yet maybe that would help. Have you tried "tar -zxf filename.tar.gz"?don't forget to navigate to where the file is first. Also, are you using direct link, or bittorrent? andrepravetz
that's just for unpacking the file I'm still having trouble running it once unpacked. I'll see if I can post a screen capture or something.
