Buried chests

One thing I have noticed in DST is not everyone is a 100% team player, myself included.  All players have an idea of "my stuff."  Often times on my long servers people will build separate chests and call them "my chest" and when they return they say "HEY!  where is my chest(stuff)."  As the game continues to develop this trend will only increase and if we get dedicated servers it will become the norm.  Not to mention that on a dedicated server if you leave your stuff will always be left behind.  How do we deal with problem?

 

Buried Chests!  There should be a 6 item chest you can bury.  The result will be an "x" on your map telling you where you buried your stuff.  Also items like the diving rod can find use again since we dont have the Teleporatato machine it can find buried treasure.  This way your stuff can be located if a player so inclines to find it and there will be the immense fun of finding BURIED TREASURE!!!!

 

So thats an idea I got to deal with the ever close if not already apparent problem of "How do hide my stuff when I'm not around?"

 

Edit- Crafting cost could be 2 planks and a shovel under Alchemy Tech.  Right-click to bury, requires a shovel to unearth.

This would definitely be a very cool feature for DST, the whole buried treasures thing. On the other hand the same issue can be solved with a craftable user-specific locked chest that is virtually indestructible, that is more or less attainable only end game. The indestructibility could be exploited though, but I'll leave the balancing for that to more experienced players.
 
But buried treasure is still an awesome idea!

I like the idea of buried treasure, it would also ahve some very cool potential for servers that decide to run events, they could make a treasure hunt out of it. 6 chests buried but only one has something in it and the frist person to find it gets to keep it.

We already have buried stuff you know. In graves.
But to burry your stuff to hide it is an excellent idea.

It can be prone to griefing. For example, you can bury someone else codex umbra, or eyebone, or all the winter clothes (during summer).

I love this idea!  And to expand it, you could have random hidden chests buried to find in the single player game.

@Isosurface Except in the case of chester this is one thing that gives it away,  chester will be sitting there not moving with no eye bone around.  Looks like there is a BURIED TREASURE!!!! nearby.

Not for hiding: for protecting.

Giants can destroy your chests.

I see this is an older post, so I'm assuming everyone found this Buried Treasure mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=384337948. Works great. It gives people the ability to stash gear for themselves as well as creating the posibility of stubling apon someone else's treasure. Love it.

@Michi01 I don't see what's the big deal. I came across this thread via google search. From what I've seen this isn't a highly used mod but it works great an adds a cool game dynamic.
