Friends on the map?!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I wanted to ask one thing to the developers of multiplayer do not starve, but in the final version on the server will be friends forever marked on the map? because now it's a mess because when you are away even just a little do not you score more on the map and it is bad, in the final version will always marked their positions?

I like it the way it is, not always knowing where your fellow survivors are. In PvP the element of surprise is nice, and when cooperating it emphasizes good coordination and communication between each other. However, I would not be against the introduction of an item that could give away your position to the others.

Please don't notify the Devs asking to read your posts,. Klei takes the time to read ALL suggestions, but that doesn't mean they will publicly answer, especially on a weekend day at 10 44 PM their time.

ok I'm sorry , I hope answer me as soon as possible ^^

In a multiplayer game like don't starve know where your friends are is critical, otherwise we have to walk to force all together ..

Hence you should communicate with them about your whereabouts. Knowing where everyone is at all times makes for a way easier game. Less handholding more unique survival experience please.

Related to this issue, has anyone else experienced being unable to see other players on the map at all, ever? (Even if the other players' characters are on your screen.) I hosted a server and my client player couldn't ever see my character's icon on his map, no matter whether we were near each other or miles apart.

Wouldn't surprise me. but for me, the only time I can't see them on the map is if I haven't explored the part of the map they are on. and right now it's VERY hard because every time you quit, when you come back the map needs to be completely re-explored.

Yes, that seems to be intentional - if other players are on an area of the map that you haven't revealed by exploration, you can't see them.

In my case, however, both of us were at our base camp. Naturally, that vicinity had been thoroughly explored by both of us and was visible on both our maps. Yet my client still didn't get my player icon on his map when we both stood within sight of each other in our base. Doesn't really matter, I suppose...it was just odd!

That's why it would be helpful the fact that the positions of the players are always on the map, so go to them in case of need and help

Well it needs to be changed one way or another whether you support it or not. Right now the host can see everyone (in revealed areas) but the clients can't, so they either need to remove it for the host or add it to the clients. For non-pvp server I favor the latter. Maybe "fix" it for the clients right now and then add a server option: "Players visible on the map: yes/no".

Not being able to starve would also be more helpful.

the pvp server with people you do not know maybe it's better not to reveal the location on the map so that each one builds the base in solitary , but those who play with friends / brothers is tedious get lost

it won't be a problem when they fix the bug that erases the map every time you disconnect and come back.

No, but I 'm not talking bugs , this topic was opened to advise developers to implement the option to display the users in the server on the map

I know. I'm trying to meet you halfway since I disagree with your initial suggestion. It also makes no sense to be able to see a character on a part of the map you haven't explored yet. If you can't see that touchstone, you shouldn't be able to see the man standing beside that touchstone.

you could add an option so that one activates or deactivates at will

I come back to this idea but i suggest the contrary :

It would be helpful for cooperative playing that when you meet someone on your screen, then you always see its picture on the sides of the screen (or on the map). But for PvP, you can craft an item that make you "invisible" again, to prevent other players from finding you. A kind of camouflage !

sorry, i dont think this is good. having to communicate your position, even if it's just "im to the south east of base, on the grassland beside a road!", is a survival skill too, and it would be much less fun / social if you see all the information about your friends.
