DST Beta Update (Phase 1) - October 3rd

Recommended Posts

Today we gave out keys to just over 100 previous Don't Starve testers are currently active on the forums. We did this so we can test some things out before we let a larger group of people into Don't Starve Together.

These new testers have done a great amount of work so far to show us some issues that need to be corrected before we hand out keys to more people. So please be patient as we work to get these issues addressed.

Come next week; if all goes according to plan, we will be adding a substantially larger group of players in as Phase 2 begins. And we will continue to add more players daily as we move forward.

Thanks everybody for all of your interest. We hear you, and we are excited too!

asdfghjkl! don't tease me like this klei! here's hopping i get in to the beta next week. Now to start browsing youtube for dst gameplay videos

Not going to be a whole lot seeing as it just came out today and people will need to edit it. Plus with the amount of crashes, it would make for a hard video.

Just saying. :B

I'm active on the forums, where's my key? :'(

Oh and when's the next beta key rollout?

There are a lot more that 100 active forum members. The people chosen were just over 100 people from the list of active forum members who also participated in the original Don't Starve beta.

That particular group of people is quite a bit less than 1% of the daily active forum members.

Wish I had known of the forums back in that day. Hahaha

I was playing it and never knew the forums even existed. So smart. :')

Still glad my friend got in, even though she wasn't even beta. Hahahahaha

Playing is a blast...when there's less crashing on her end.

And Pyromailmann don't you worry a smidgen. The time it takes for all of this to occur, the better the game will run. Heck, maybe some of the crashing bugs might be fixed! Patience is a virtue!!

The game is pretty good so far, I gave a few keys to my friends and they had a few troubles getting on at first, probably due to the large amount of people flooding in. They still had fun after they managed to get on, even though we were on different servers. I haven't discovered any real bugs yet and have only really experienced a bit of server lag so far.

Other than that it seems good atm. Thanks again for letting me have the honor of being one of the first to try it out, I hope to see more people on the beta as time passes.  :-)

Well, most of that day was spent just trying to stay connected. Trust me, this is not yet ready for a public rollout until the public can  stay connected!

"We can't get connected"
"Can you be more specific?"
"No, because we can't connect!"

Not an easy thing to figure out when we couldn't get connected to even get error messages for a while....

I'm hoping to be in when the next few keys are given out. I might not seem like it, but I am quite a good bug tracker. For this kind of thing I'd enjoy it. Once I get a key, on with the rabbits & toothraps and obelisk testing for bugs :)

I think what JoeW is saying basicly @Pyromailmann is people like you and me who are active on the forums but somewhat new are looking more at phase 2 than phase 1. People who have participated in pervious DS betas it sounds like got in at phase 1. But you know, next week you might get in. But you never know!

Yeah, I had been on the forums for a while, actually. I had an older account @Wilson240 but I forgot the password to that so I made this one.

Ah, that sucks. Well I wish you luck on getting into the closed beta! It's sounds pretty buggy and crash-y atm though. But I guess the testers are here to make it not be so buggy right?
