Who do you think is the best for Adventure mode

Recommended Posts

I finished only one time with WX 78 and it was so easy after I found the first gears..

Skipping the "OP Wx-78" I think Wilson is.

He has no drawbacks and has the beard for winter, especially King of Winter! (So best not to shave until after you're in the next world just in case you didn't get KoW before.)

Other users' character opinions may vary and I look forward to revisiting this conversation with our RoG expansion rules!

Assuming your on RoG, Wigfried would be a good choice, sanity and health buff from defeating enemies.

Weber would be good cause you can walk right past all the spiders you'll run into, plus eat monster meat with no penalty.

Personally, I did it with Wilson. His beard comes in handy plus he's just awesome!

Alot of it will come down to your play style and strategy for getting thru the challenges. But my vote is for Wilson!

Maxwell is too squishy, I've found.  And his dapperness has killed me before, when I pass one obelisk bridge only to find another on the other side of a barren wasteland with no mushrooms.  Willow's lighter is super handy for my standard method of clearing excessive numbers of spiders in forests I need to explore. (Forest fires are a GOOD thing.)  Currently I'm trying it as Woodie.  It's been rough.  Once I get a little more established and have some jerky going to recover from werebeaver form I think he'll be pretty good- he's excellent for clearing out thickly clustered monsters and dealing with the sudden winter in A Cold Reception and the first few days of winter in The Game is Afoot.  you know, times when you just need to plow through until winter ends.

I only beat adventure in RoG, but the first time I succeed was with Webber. Like stated above, he was useful for the oodles of spiders you encounter, one drawback I found though, were the issues when encountering pig villages. I would always have to wait until nightfall to be able to pass through safely.

Anyone with some experience in adventure mode with Willow wanna share some insightful knowledge? I rather like her but I never really make it far.

Same with Maxwell in RoG for King of Winter as the first world for me. (Durn Jackalopes taking days to  pop up in traps really made it hard with his lowered health if I started starving.)

I.... refuse to ever play King of Winter as my first world, no matter who I'm playing.  I suicide and try again.

Just my point of view here, but I guess this would be the top 5 characters for Adventure Mode:

  1. OP-78
  2. Assuming you have RoG, Wigfrid. She has a lot of resistance, can craft good weapons and is easy to manage.
  3. Wickerbottom (Not having to craft a Science Machine is really useful)
  4. Webber, as you will encounter lots of spiders (still, RoG only).
  5. Wilson.

Willow would be perfect for the last chapter, but her sanity problems make her a burden.

Wendy has Abigal, which is super useful, but doesn't last very long. After she dies, you are alone with your weak noodle-arms.

Wolfgang is ok if you can manage his hunger problems.

Don't know much about how Woodie would work. Guess you can't use him at it's full abilities, as you have to carry the Teleportato things with you (thing you can't do if you are in Werebeaver mode, as you drop all of your inventory).

'Not going to spoil' character:

He doesn't have the health to make a great fighter, and his insane sanity restoration could become a problem when you have to pass insanity pillars. Still, he spawns with his own sword and armour, which is sweet. He is not a bad character to choose.

Wes is Wes.

I beat adventure mode with Willow. Her lighter is actually really useful, and have it equipped most of the time. Get a top hat as soon as possible, because her sanity is naturally low. If you stand by a fire with that on and her lighter equipped she won't lose any sanity at night.

Her low sanity can be useful sometimes, because you don't need as many things to make you go insane in order to pass obelisks. Not only that, but once you get on the other side you can eat cooked green mushrooms and stand by a roaring fire to get her sanity back up quickly.

The lighter comes in handy in king of winter, because she can light up trees to warm her up as she goes. It's also useful while running away at night.

The hardest level with her was archipelago because of all the wormholes. This is the most important level to have sanity helping items on. She should wear a flower garland or top hat at all times.

i find the Tam O Shanter is doubly important with low sanity characters in AM. Of course, that often means knowing how to handle KoW and/or The Game is Afoot first or waiting for winter in a prior world...

Maxwell makes it incredibly easy, but otherwise, Wolfgang is one of the hardest to start with since you have no time for a crockpot and sanity is low.

If you truly seek a challenge, try all night adventure mode....
