Don't starve together, TOGETHER!

Recommended Posts

With the upcoming event of "Don't starve together closed beta" (Which is now closed) I thought that I would make a little forum topic about... Lets say,

Preparing for Don't Starve Together, TOGETHER!

So basically, what the idea is, we start a fresh, new game of don't starve, using you favorite character- just for fun. Then we play from day 1, to day 20! (Every 20 days now!)

Once we hit selected day, we take a screenshot of our base, and our map, to show each other how much we've achieved since day 1! I think this would be great for preparing for don't starve together, as well as comparing each others idea/strategy- our play style when it comes to this game, just for fun!

Feel free to post your own base, if you attempt this, remember- this is just for fun, no worries if you wouldn't want to share your ideas,  you can just look at each others play style, see if you get any ideas for improving!

Here's a quick screenshot of my base:

post-278628-0-12104500-1410911568_thumb.

I managed to find Chester, Glommer and "The king of Pigs" already!

And heres the map:

post-278628-0-77563500-1410911591_thumb.

So maybe if you guys would like to try this out, then please, post your screenshots, im dying to know how you all play!

And remember: Don't Starve!

I liked that pun...

I will happily participate, but I will undoubtedly be one of the worse examples. I've only got 20ish hours across PS4 and Steam Don't Starve, and I'm still not very good, but I would appreciate constructive criticism or ideas when I do post my screenshot!

I'm glad many like this idea already! (+39 views already? wow!)

And don't worry if you are not the best, at this game, (I normally play it for a few weeks, then get bored, and wait a few months, then play it again, but don't starve together is a great excuse!) This isn't a competition, its more of a... friendly interaction!

And i still can't believe i found Glommer that early on... Next to the king of pigs... Hes my ne wprofile picture... lol

Sounds like a fun idea! Day 20 is great because it is a good hopefully post-winter-prep day.

Sounds good!

Sounds fun, but I have some questions after reading the op post and some screenshots from above:

1) Shouldn't each person play the vanilla game for starters considering that for the first part of the beta Reign of Giants won't be included?

2) Shouldn't each player start their session without any mods at all? We don't know how the mods will be handled during multiplayer.

1) You're right, but it shouldn't matter which version they play as, whatever each person is comfortable with, for example, maybe one persons favorite character is only available in Reign of giants, but it doesn't matter which version!

2) I normally just play vanilla, but if its a mod like maybe... Inventory organization, extra inventory space ect. something that helps the player out, but doesn't essentially add anything extra to the game, so mods like that are cool!

I only have a few more days left until day 20, but who knows, i might start a new file- as my true favorite character?

Ohh I love it, when do we start!!?

Just start on day 1 with any character, (preferable your favourite)

then play until post winter, or day 20. You shouldn't make any alters to the world options, but its up to you!

Then, on day 20, you take screenshots of your home base, and map to show us all you have accomplished!

Then, post the screenshots on this forum, Fun!

I have where's my beefalo and Always on stats simply because I like playing with them on. I can remove them. I recently started this rog world, so I'm simply going to use that as it's near the 20 day mark. I used day 19 mainly to take the pictures and gather grass, as I am too low to really make it through winter if I want to keep myself from camping.

My campsite.

This is camp winter:

It's not the fanciest one, but you can see the many rabbit holes and the start of the line of trees around it. I haven't gone full farm due to the fact I only need to catch four rabbits a day to feed myself. I won't be using my trees for the fire much however, as the beefalo's wool is a much more viable option for winter.

This is the area surroundng my base. There was two beefalo heards, but one was too close to the pig torches and they got decimated through repeated respawnings. I managed to save most of the meat however. Above is a heard I moved away from my base due to it migrating straight on top of it during heat. After I used them to take down a 3rd tier spider den, They camped nearby and I left the nest up there.

This is the second half of the island, where the rocks and everything else are. They're about a day's walk due to the awesome placement of road.

Nice!

Sometimes, i like to use turf as fuel for my fire, when ever i use the pitchfork to remove the turf around my base, i normally get around 15-20 turf, and only about 5 pieces will last me the whole night!

But i'm sure beefalo wool is much more efficient, there's only so much turf in one don't sta-

Well... i guess turfs everywhere lol, but there's still the pitchforks durability...

Looks like everyone gets farms up quickly, but I usually focus on getting Drying Racks, shaving Beefalo and killing/trapping Spiders before winter.

Don't blame me, blame the beefalo that stormed my camp and pooped everywhere that I had to clean up or listen to the flies for eternity.

I think turf falls under the same catergory as grass tufts. Great for the fire, but what do you do when it's all gone? Turf isn't so bad of course, but I shudder at the rookie who uses the tufts because they burn well.

Aight, finally made it to day 20, my map hasn't changed at all, but i made a few alters to, to prepare for winter, of course.

Here's the main view:

post-278628-0-45416200-1410995350_thumb.

Added lightning rods, rain-o-meters, ect.

Here's my rabbit traps

post-278628-0-03141400-1410995414_thumb.

Quickly made those within 2 days, with winter around the corner.

Now, my berry, sapling, and grass farm.

post-278628-0-19523500-1410995471_thumb.

Still need to fertilize a hand full of grass tufts, and berry bushes, kinda got the farm set up at the last second...

And now, my farm, farm...

post-278628-0-38478900-1410995560_thumb.

I will be playing this as my solo file, but its really fun sharing with you guys! I have not come across the bearger, but i have a bad feeling of whats awaiting for me in winter.....

Looks good so far. Word to the wise: Put images in spoilers.

If I may make a suggestion, work out how far away the emergency rations are, and where you're respawn thingy is(If you found one).

Have you got a means of defending yourself? (EG: Beefalo, swamp, pigs)

Yeah, but the only time i use the turf as fire is: like i said, for removing the terrain around my campsite

and the only time i use tufts, is to remove them for when i'm making a farm plot (I had to remove a few tufts, they were in the way of my berry bushes, lol)

I wasn't saying it's bad occasionally, I do it sometimes too when laying roads. But it's not a viable long-term solution.

yeah, guess I forgot about the spoiler thing, lol, ill make sure to fix that right away!

And also, if you look at my map, you will see a touchstone close to the middle/right area, I plan on making a chest their filled with supplies, in case i die. But its only day 20, i normally don't die that early lol.

And also, if you look at my map, you will see a huge savanna, there's a few dozen beefalo there, if a giant spawns, i usually try and lure it out their, the giant kills about 89% of the beefalo, but then the giant dies.

This way, i get lots of meat, and the giants drop, without having to fight the giant, itself.

However, this is not the best of techniques...

The aftermath leaves me with almost no beefalo, thus unable to get any-or as much manure. I would have to find another herd, but it would be much farther away, and I estimate it would take a day and a half, just to get the manure I would need.

I admit: This isn't the best of tactics, but its all I got! lol

If any of you have a better strategy, please, reply to this post, lol
