Extra slots for backpack & amulet? (Reference: RPG hud mod)

Right now Don't Starve vanilla just offers us three item slots - those being hands / body / head

 

On first glance this seems fine, but there I was during the darkest winter pondering why on earth I cannot just put on my puffy vest and then strap my backpack on top to reap the benefits of both items and stay warm while also hauling the items in my backpack with me instead of having to choose.

I strongly feel the vanilla base game should at least expand our options to four item slots, making it possible to equip an armor OR a body clothing item TOGETHER with one backpack. I feel much less strongly about including a fifth item slot exclusively for amulets but I think this can be discussed as well and I would like to gauge the thoughts of our community for both these options.

 

Personally I would be super happy with just four dedicated item slots mainly because:

* It's more realistic. I know it's just a game and fun plus balance must trump any pretense of realism but still... backpacks and clothing items aren't even conceptually in the same ballpark and it just seems ridiculous why a character shouldn't be able to carry both.

 

* I can't see any terrible balance problems or making the game "too easy". During my last games I played with the RPG hud mod (same number of inventory slots as the vanilla game but with an extra backpack and amulet slot) and it felt... just right. Choosing between clothes and a backpack just seems arbitrary and ridiculous to me.

Inventory is already a headache in this game, with all the raw materials and tools you need too often to *not* carry around.  Personally I find myself just not bothering with a backpack during winter or summer, and of course you have to drop the backpack whenever you equip armor. It's all pretty silly.  A dedicated backpack space would remove one of the most annoying features of the game.  

 

Likewise, I feel that too many amulets are made a lot less useful by taking up your armor/clothing slot.  And yeah, it would simply be nice from a realistic standpoint if those were in different slots.

Inventory Management is a large part of this game, if you could just equip an Amulet, a Backpack, a Clothing Item, AND a Hat, all at once, that's an extra 2 slots, not to mentions the benefits of being able to equip an Amulet and a Clothing Item, think abusing this by just having a red amulet on at all times, which essentially means when you die, you get resureccted, every single time, with no penalties whatsoever. Not being able to equip all these items at once is actually a larger factor in balancing them than you may think. 

 

Not to mention it's one of those "Lets make the game easier" suggestions. Which almost never get added.
