New Seasonal Animals

Hello everybody !

I have been playing Don't Starve RoG for some time and realized as many others that having a bit more of SEASONAL FRIENDS could make the game more interesting.

 

I've read the topic on feedback and suggestions which suggested the introduction of:

 

- LOCUST

- OWL

- SNAKE

- CROCODILE

- PORCUPINE

 

In regards to this, I'm trying to make some profiles of these animals including all of the possible features ( such as sanity loss/gain, hunger, health, crafting and so on) in order to see if we can altogether came out with a good solution  :loyal:  :loyal:

 

The first animal Ive done a small project on is the summer LOCUST....

 

Is anybody interested in helping me to make something fun and useful ?!?!?!  :joyous:

LOCUST

 

- spawn from grass

- eat crops , sapling and grass

- live in herds 3-4 individuals

- ONLY SUMMER

 

LOOT

- eaten stuff (cut grass,twigs or rots)

- locust legs (10% chance)

 

CROCK_POT

1 locust legs + 1 locust legs + 1 honey + 1 honey ====> caramelized locust legs 

 

(unique recipe which cannot be crafted if not with these resources)

 

when eaten raw locust legs = sanity +1, health +1, hunger +1

 

when eaten cooked   "         = sanity 0, health 0, hunger +5

 

when eaten caramelized locust legs = sanity +10, health +5, hunger +15

 

DETAILS

 

locust: 

- health 25hp

- damage cause when attacks the player 1hp

- the herd will fight the player attacking the individual

 

locust legs:

- new item

- stack up to 10

- spoils after 3 days

First of all this game isn't reality, but if u want to talk about it in some asian countries they DO eat bugs and especially caramelized since it is considered a delicacy.

 

Second point, i believe it makes sense to have at least one passive/active mob which gives a source of sanity when its loot is cooked. Frog  legs/cooked frog legs, morsel/cooked morsel, fish/cooked fish  and so on....  do not give sanity bonus when eaten.

 

The fact, caramelized version give a sanity bonus might make it easier for players to keep sanity high, but since the recipe it is unique and MUST include x2 honey & x2 locust legs, i think its a good deal.  Difficult recipe on one hand but little sanity bonus on the other.

 

In addition consider, that locust would only be present in summer, as a consequence the recipe is craftable just ¼ of the "Don't starve" year.

 

Lowering the sanity bonus ? Well that could make sense ....

 

Any other feedback to make a comparison ??????
