lynlynlora
hey, does anyone here know if you can play the game without being connected to the internet? I want to take my laptop to work and play there (Yes, my job is awesome.) but I can't connect it to the internet at work. I know there's an offline mode for steam, has anyone done this? Will it work? (Don't Starve is the first game I've gotten on Steam, so I am super new to this, and fully aware I may just be overlooking the answer to my question elsewhere.) JanH
You should be able to play Don't Starve on Steam offline mode. We do recommend going online from time to time to download occasional patches, bug fixes, and such. Also, if you plan on playing on Steam offline mode, you may want to turn off Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve so that your game progress and game worlds are saved locally on your hard drive and not on Steam Cloud. To turn off / disable Steam Cloud: - Right-Click on Don't Starve in your Steam Game Library; choose "Properties"- A new, smaller window will pop-up; click on the "Updates" tab- Uncheck/disable "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Don't Starve.- When you turn off Steam Cloud, your save files will be located locally in your documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\Save
the truthseeker
Oh, and of course your Steam accomplishments won't update offline, but what JanH wrote. I play Standalone DS for example and it plays just fine (assuming you get the occasional patches, bug fixes and updates mentioned before.)
