hiredrock
I have the ps4 version of the game, and recently bought Reign of Giants for it. (Got the base game a while ago with ps+) Would it be worth it to buy it again on PC, because some features are missing? I mostly want to set some things to More/Lots on the world generation screen, and to get rid of depths worms since fear of those are keeping me out of the caves and ruins. Is the PC version better than the ps4 version of the game? I would like to get it soon before Don't Starve together comes out so I don't have to pay more. blindlfaith
I have both. I prefer the PC version over the PS4 version hands down. Not only due to the missing features, but the mouse and keyboard are much easier to use and more fluid when doing things. It's a cheap game so I would say go for it and you won't be disappointed. Also the multiplayer update is coming soon to steam!
hiredrock
Thanks for the quick reply! I'll definitely get it when I die in my current ps4 game. Is there a way to unlock all exp characters instantly? I don't want to have to go through 90 days with Wilson again for Woodie and Wigfrid. blindlfaith
Besides cheating or mods I don't think so. But seeing as how you are experienced, it shouldn't be to difficult for you to survive for a decent time. I think you also get a lot of experience for finding the items and getting through worlds faster. If you are okay with cheating or mods. There are ways to unlock all the characters without unbalancing the game.
blindlfaith
http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Console/Commands If you scroll down to profile commands, these are some console strings you can enter to unlock the characters.
Tedion
I've never tried PS4, but from what I've seen PC is much better. PC is what they update first, and always has first priority. This means you'll get things first on pc(Reign of Giants, Don't Starve Together). Also the controls are better. You can use the mouse to target a specific enemy, rather than hoping the controller will automatically target for you.
hiredrock
Thanks for that link! The game is actually downloading right now! I'll finally be able to use the boomerang, set everything to Lots (and watch my computer melt) and explore the caves without fear of death worms coming! Now I just have to convince my friend to get the game so we can play together!

Renz004
I started off as a Playstation player, but switched to PC because I saw there is a significant delay for the PS versions to get updates. If there was no delay I would have just stayed on the PS4. I vastly prefer using a controller over the mouse and keyboard though, which is why I just use an 360 controller on my pc works perfectly and natively that way Probably the best part of PC though is access to mods. You can add a ton of stuff, and some borderline on necessary like the more map icons mod. Also depths worms are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dangers in the cave/ruins.... >.>
the truthseeker
Heh, besides the "master race," more selectable options, more controller options and mod support, the PC will first support multiplayer Don't Starve Together. That alone would make me want it on Steam/Standalone (but most likely released on Steam first, then Standalone.) Edit: Sony's updating needs to be cleared by the PSN testing review. This is so for major new releases like the first time DS was released and the RoG update. Subsequent bug fixes and minor updates are fast and happen a few days after the computer version last I checked.

I may have to get a controller for my PC, I'll probably be a lot more comfortable. but the mods and the updates pushed me over the edge, so I got it on steam as well, and I'm not sorry. Palpetinus
duuuuuuuude. this is gonna make everything better. If you're more used to PS controllers, I would recommend the Logitech F710, which is not only cheaper, it also has more features than the Xbox controller, like switching between Direct Input and XInput, making it compatible for pretty much everything, different levels of vibration, and you can switch the input of the D-Pad and the left analog stick, which isn't even so bad for a few games that have crappy button mapping. And before you say something like "but Xbox controllers are ensured to work with more because Microsoft and Windows etc.", the F710 uses the Xbox controller driver, so for Windows it's the exact same thing.
