I hired a team of pigs to distract the Deerclops while I got constant Hambat hits on him and then kited him after my piggies died... Finally got my first Deerclops eyeball! Then a Goose/Moose appeared on day 36 (first day of spring) and was stalking me like crazy. I led him to the marsh that was close to my base, got lucky and found 3 tentacles all in one spot and they PUMMELED him! Tentacles FTW! Was this just a really unlucky case of giant spawns? Because everything is set to default settings.. lol. I'm just glad to be alive. vvoytek Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 It's completely normal that it happened. Deerclops tries to get you before winter ends, and Goose/Moose spawns in the beginning of spring. The Goose/Moose spawns only once and if it didn't lay an egg then that's the end of it. Now you have until the middle/end of summer to prepare for Dragonfly. the truthseeker Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Yep. Frequently. A recent new game run (because i found the Potato Thing there,) I made a base in the Swamp. That really made winter easy (and happened to be playing Wigfrid so it was a good meat haul there with just enough filler produced.) It also happened to have a reed trap..Dearie spawned nearby and I really had to convince him to follow me up there (I am sorta sorry for the lost Merm houses.) When that first day of Spring came and i heard the honk, I was wise enough to leave the area. I went back a couple of days later (so he/she could make a nest) and took care of him/her (okay lessee, a Goose is a male but a Moose laying eggs is female...damn you Maxwell...) it was too easy. I barely survived Deerclops, was just starting to recover and had Goose Moose. I did the same as you - led her to a marsh and left her there, came back later for loot.
