koompastomp
We already know the whole thing with Charlie, but what about the Ancient Guardian? Maybe we will find out more about it's past later? When examining it's horn, Maxwell calls it his old friend.
fixc9876
Perhaps when Maxwell got sucked in, a few unseen people in the audience (aka, his friends,) were sucked in as well. "They" filled them with nightmare fuel and corrupted their forms, maybe?
The Letter W
I'd say Jack but that's his brother, not a friend...
the truthseeker
It's speculated the "previous civilization" that was beneath the world (so called 'void") worshiped the Ancient Guardian and/or used him as a Guardian before the Ruination due to using too much Nightmare fuel. We can guess Maxwell liked what he saw and did (like with his "Stage Background" for the DS world appearance) the Rook and other Chess pieces, the failures thrown away in the now Ruins. XirmiX
I think Ancient Guardians should be renewable, say put 9 Beefalo wool or something in each stack of the big chest once dead, and the chest will turn into Ancient guardian; that way some Thulecite stuff would be renewable as well! Btw, I think in ruins Thulecite fragments should fall down during earthquakes as well, don't you think? But in ruins, not caves.

But in ruins, not caves.it's weird you can "mine" them from tumbleweeds once found in Ruins, but they never rain down even in an earthquake in the Ruins. There should be a rare chance that could happen, as "part of the civilization lost in the crevices" happens to be jarred loose.
