RoG suggestions.

Recommended Posts

So after playing RoG (currently day 120) I have a few suggestions for things that I think would be nice to have/changed.

- Make catcoons renewable by being able to either repair broken hollow stumps or build hollow stumps (same  way as pig houses, could require something like 2 catcoon tails, 6 logs and 2 rope or something like that) Catcoons are really awesome and cute but very easy for them to go extinct from things like frog rain.

- create mor crafting recipes for giant specific loot. At the moment I dont find killing any of the new giants rewarding enough. I killed Moose/Goose and the dragonfly (which was really tough to kill for the first time) Perhaps make a weapon or armour that requires one of each of the 4 giant specific loot items with perhaps the addition of maybe living logs, nightmare fuel.

- Improve Ice flingomatic AI. The ice flingomatics very often miss their target and sometimes will shoot another snow ball but I see most times it will just ignore it if it misses. I would roughly estimate from my experience that the ice flingomatic's accuracy is 60-70%

- Not sure if this is a bug or not but it seems if you put a giant to sleep using sleep darts and then use an old bell it will wake up. This is highly annoying and makes the old bell kinda useless for me. If the developers are using this to balance/nerf the old bell as it is extremely easy to obtain. Then rather nerf the old bell with regards to the materials needed to create one eg. (make it require 3-5 glommer wings and flowers)

I'm in two minds about the catcoons. You're right, but I enjoy that, in a sense, you have to treasure them and keep them in mind so they don't go extinct (as ecologists commonly have to do in the field). I'm just used to that thought being present at all times.

I love, love, LOVE the suggestion about the weapon/armour with the loot from the 4 season giants. Adds some challenge and a bit of a goal for some late-game players. Nice touch. ;)

I've not noticed anything off about the ice flingomatics I've made. Have you made sure you fuel them to 100%? Seriously, my flingomatics never miss...

Yeah, the old bell thing was part of an update a while ago. It just made it far too easy to kill giants who are supposed to make you soil yourself at the very sight of them.

After that thought, I'd better clean up....

thing is sometimes the way catcoons die is completely out of ones control eg lure plants spawning near a hollow stump, frog rain etc. already lost one of my worlds hollow stump and there are only 5 of them in my world :(

my flingomatics are pretty much always fueled fully. Every day i put more in them. For some reason its the one where my berry bushes, saplings and grass turfs that is the one that frequently misses.

I figured they made giant wake up when they hear an old bell to nerf it BUT its a really bad way to nerf it IMO the only point I see to an old bell is to kill giants its so overkill for regular monsters. They should have nerfed it by making old bells harded to craft (like I mentioned earlier 3-5 glommer wings.) I have like 8 old bells in my world that I dont even know what to do with them because it is just too inconsistent (luck based for giants IMO) Also its even easier to kill giants with sleeping dart and gunpowder combo. Only reason I would prefer to do it with an old bell is because old bells are far far more renewable than gunpowder.

Yup. Although, I suppose that's just the unfortunate consequence of a natural distaster, akin to the real world. I recommend staying out of those areas in summer (if you are without an ice staff) and spring (due to frog rain).

Huh. I've never had that problem with my ice flingomatics - they keep firing snow balls non-stop until the fire's extinguished. How big's your farm? It might be that there are too many entities on-screen for the flingomatic to cope with. Mind posting a screenshot of your resource farm if you're able to take one?

ill get one now give me 5 min. Ill also show you why I cant just get away from the catcoons as my base is right next to the deciduous forrest. Reason I picked it is because on one side there is a swamp (great for reeds) On the other there is a deciduous forrest (glommer, living log farming) right next to the deciduous forrest there is rockland and on the other side of my base is a forrest which is right in front of a savannah biome filled with beefelo's

and here is why I cant simply avoid being bear catcoons. My base is in the perfect spot.post-325382-0-49874400-1406387506_thumb.

Wow! I love the layout of your berry/twig/grass farm! Wow! :D

It looks so cool :)

I don't know why the flingomatic's playing up, then. Suppose it could do with some tuning.

Wait, are you on the PS4 or is that just a control pad for the desktop version(I'm a dumb-dumb so I don't know this stuff)? Could be your PS4's hardware or even your PC's specs (whichever you use).

Ah. I can see your problem with the catcoons, and that hella sucks. You could always make a spring base away from all that stuff, or just leave LOADS of traps lying around to catch the frogs :)

Yea im on ps4 so I just got RoG and its pretty epic. I think i am just going to go into caves and explore caves and ruins in spring. Another awesome convenience in my world is there is a cave entrance right outside my base
