A food in DS that should not spoil at all!

Recommended Posts

I just watched Matthew Santoro's videos of 50 amazing facts, and guess what: one of the facts he mentioned was that honey is the only food that does not spoil. So, let me ask: why does honey in DS can spoil at all? I know it spoils at a really slow rate but logically and scientifically it shouldn't spoil at all. Like Tallbird eggs and cooked mandrake, which kinda doesn't make any sense.

Having 4 bee boxes gives you pretty much all the honey you will ever need but you can make even more bee boxes!!! So yeah I think honey is fine as it is. We are playing a video game so features that balance the game are better than making it more realistic.

Not that making it more realistic is a bad thing but in some ways yes it is and in this case I would find honey to be super OP if it never spoiled. I also think that mandrakes NOT spoiling is fair because they are so rare.

Mkay then, I'll put this in my mod then. I really wanna tell you guys a lot of features I want to put into my mod, but I don't think you'd care much. I'll just tell you that it might be the biggest mod that anyone has ever made! Bigger than Up and Away and probably even bigger than the RoG DLC itself! You might think that it would be poor quality etc, but no, the ideas that I've gathered might actually be something you'll really like, something you'll never get bored of. And yup, it will take ages till it's done, but I'm up for the challenge, to make a mod that would make this the best survival game ever, not that it isn't already.

Just so you know (yeah I knew the thing about honey already) there is already a mod to fix this 'injustice to the greatest superfood natural known to man'. If you didn't know about it's shelf life, you have no idea just how epic honey really is. You should look it up, it's like OP but in real life.

Oh, wow! When I glanced at that mod the first time, I thought the mod made honey look realistic. Thanks!

no problem.

I just created my own mod, called Better Moon and I have uploaded it to Steam (DevilXD should be uploading it on Klei as a standalone soon - it was my idea but his genius that wrote it). It's another one of those more useful, non balance changing, more realistic, nice touch type mods. basically there are 2 parts. 1 has the moon show 24/7, the other adds waxing/waning to the moon. it's pretty cool.

anyway if you need the standalone version just pm me and i'll upload it next time i'm on, if DevilXD hasn't done it by then. My internet is sketchy atm so i don't know quitee when i might just fall of the face of the intstawebz.

Apparently I can't find it in the Workshop search function, so HERE:

Your mod does what to the full moon? Cause it seems pretty realistic to me without any mods to be honest!

Are games supposed to make sense? If I wanted to do something that made sense, I'd read a book entitled "How to make sense of things".

I'm being a bit convoluted, but yeah, generally they are supposed to make sense, they just aren't always meant to be realistic.

If you want a game that messes with your sense of reality, check out either "antichamber" (breaks the rules of physics and reason) or "Master Reboot" (a kind of horror puzzler +jumpscares + story set in a virtual reality dreamspace, actually very cool).
